Tracy at SVCH called me last week and told me that Medical Mutual now requires that they see a real effort given when it comes to the 6 mo. diet. This is the dumbest thing I have ever heard!!! If I could lose the weight on my own I would not be going through all this sh**! Anyway, just frustrated, had to vent!!

Hey Jeaninne I feel your frustration. I had Medical Mutual and was finally approved after 2 appeals. They want you to give up, so don't! Just do your 6 months and file appeals in the meantime.

Hi Jeaninne! I finished my six month diet on July 8th and lost over 20 pounds. That sounds like a lot until you realize I needed to lose 150 pounds! Also for me to lose that 150 pounds I would have to be on a very strict diet for about 3 years. THREE years !! My PC doctor says No-one could be on a diet for three years without medical intervention. I have Medical Mutual and the week my diet was over I was approved. So keep your chin up and don't worry, things will work out. big hug, Barbara

Jeaninne, I also know how you are feeling. I had Ohio Medicaid and had to go through a 2 and half year battle for my approval. Sometimes I felt like they were just hoping I would die from my obesity and co morbidities before they had to pay for the surgery. It really was carazy that they would pay for 18 daily meds and a dozen hospitalizations without a complaint, but fought me on the one thing that would make such a difference in my life and health. On my last appeal I took with me a printout that my pharmacy created forme which tracked all the money that they had paid for all my medications and the hospital created an itemized bill of all ER visits, tests, hospitalizations, oxygen costs, Surgeries and it was an astronomical amount that they paid, and most like would continue to have to pay. I think that is what finally got them to think. And a letter read by my kids at the hearing telling why they NEEDED me to have the surgery and be around a long time. The best of luck to you on your appeal process. Dont ever give up and you will get your miracle Hugs, Miss Laura
