I am hopeing someone here can help - I am 10 weeks out. I am still having a hard time eating. There are still so very few items I can eat and heaven forbid one of them makes me sick I end up reverting back to the puree portion of the process. I am so limited in what I eat and then the getting sick I end up not eating all meals. Then it comes to the vitamins. If I maange to get them all down - which sometimes take a 3-4 hour process along with my other meds I am so full I can not eat. I seem to have this feeling a nasea (sp) most of the time. So with all of this happening, I have not lost weight in the past 1-1/2 weeks, my energy level is so low and I am becoming very discouraged. I was doing great in the begining. I had my moments of having to find what I could eat and what worked best. But it seems the farther through this process i am going, the harder it is becoming. I am hoping somone has some suggestions - I am feeling like I am pretty mcuh alone in this right now, because family does not seem to know how to help me right now. They have not gone through this and are kind of at a loss. Anyhow, any help or suggestions woudl be greatly appreciated.... Thanks in advance!!!!

This is the prime time that strictures are known to occur. I encourage you to discuss this with your doctor. Eating should be getting earier every day - not worse. (((HUGS)))

Kelly I am so sorry you are feeling bad but I have to say I UNDERSTAND....I had a lot of problems from 2 weeeks to about 6 months out. You might want to talk to your doc. you might have a stricture. I have had that 4 times and the procedure the first time might be a little scarey (the unknown) but after that its a breeze. But, Dr. Curry, my Dr. is the best and he is always there for you. I'm sure your Dr. will be there also. I hope this helps in the fact that your not alone. Please contact your doctor today. Good luck and keep us posted....Pam

I agree with Pam, I am the best... Just kidding! I agree with her about the stricture possibility. The good news is that it's almost always fixable without surgery. Dr. C

Kelly I am so sorry you are having problems, it's really hard in the beginning to make so many changes. I agree you need to call the docs office and just make sure there is not medical problem. Then my suggestion would be to back off eating and try liquids and puree until your pouch likes you again...then begin adding foods that you are allowed slowly, take abite then sit your fork or spoon down and see how it reacts. At 10 weeks out you arn't quite on a regular food diet so I am assuming you are eating according to your program. Talk to the dietician at the office ...no one should be miserable duing this time, a good center with a good program will help you through it. The other thing is the vitamins. I was chewing flintstones at 10 weeks I didn't graduate to regular vitamins for a few months if my memory corrects me. Not everyone reacts the same, let the office know you are having these problems, could you be having problems with milk products?, being lactose intolerant is not unusual after WLS..I know..believe me! I still can't do any type of milk products, like cottage cheese, yogurt, and plain milk. Also look at what you are eating now compared to what you ate (drank) in the hospital. Are you eating that bite to many? it took me awhile to gage that.. Hope this helps.. Brenda [email protected]
