New and wondering...

Hi y'all. I have been researching the lap band for what seems like forever now and have finally decided that that's what I want to do. I've scheduled a seminar appointment for the 27th of this month. I'll be a self-pay and that's kind of worrying me as I'm getting a loan against the house for it...but I consider it as an investment on my future. How long after you set up your first appointment did it take you to get in to see the surgeon? After testing, how long did it take you to get your surgery date? I'm nervous and excited and MORE than ready to jump back into a life that I had left behind. I've NEVER been "normal" sized but came close a time or two...I'm looking forward to cute clothes from a regular store. NOT Lane Bryant or men's shirts. I'm looking forward to feeling comfortable in an airplane seat. And I'm looking forward to not standing out in a crowd unless it's for my big mouth hollering...lol. I'm glad I found this support site~!

Bobbi, Most times self pay patients can move along pretty fast. Usually about a month from first visit to surgery date. Dr. C

Hi Bobbi, I was also self pay and had the lap band surgery last October with Dr. C. It's by far the best investment that I've ever made. Being self pay makes the process was much quicker. I'm also happy to tell you that I'm much more comfortable in an airplane, which is great considering I fly every week (at least once a week or more)! Life is good and I love my band. Thank you both~! I wish I would have know about the lap band a year ago~! My 20th HS reunion is coming up in a couple of months. Boy would I love to WOW them with the revised version of me. Watch out year 25~! In a short week and a half I'll know more of what I'm getting into. Again, thank you~! Bobbi
