Hello everyone. My name is Tricia and I have been reading posts and profiles for months without writing to anyone. I saw my surgeon in June and he said he was ready to go ahead with surgery without any further tests. Unfortunately, my insurance was a no go. I have Paramount through Medical University Hospital and they cleary have an exclusion policy for surgery for morbid obesity. Is there any way around this? I have sent in my first appeal letter and am hoping, but am very doubtful. Does anyone have any suggestions? I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Go to www.obesitylaw.com. They are a husband/wife team that both had WLS and can help with the uphilll battle.

Often, it's the employer that chooses the exclusion to reduce premiums. You might try consulting HR and asking them to change their policy for next year or allow an exception.
