Hello I'm new to the...
Sally welcome to the wonderful world of weight loss...As for your question to which is better, I think thats a question for you and your doctor. If you have insurance there might not be a choice. I had RNY G. Bypass, as with Sharyn, my BMI was too high, I was about 53. Also, you need to consider your age, if you still want to have children then I would go with the band, much safer while being pregnant and then you can fill the band back up after giving birth. Either way, make sure you do your research and find a doctor that meets your needs and personality. Bedside manor is just as important as surgical history. Good Luck.....Pam
Do let me recommend Dr. Curry. You have just seen his post on here and although he didn't do my surgery, (I was self pay and went to mexico) He has been kind enough to take me on as a patient and is doing my fills for the LapBand. He is a skilled surgeon and does either RNY or Lapband laproscopically. He is one of the few doctors who posts on the boards and is available by email, along with his staff of really exceptional friendly helpful people. Erin the dietitian has a LapBand, and this is really great, if you choose the band, because she has such personal experience. You can look at Dr. Curry's website www.thebanddoctor.com He is special for sure.
