insurace question kindof

ok how come some people have their surgery date when they go to their first wls Dr's appointment is it because the insurance??? I am very happy for those who get their surgery date the faster the date the faster you can get healthy .. im just curious thats all thanks God bless all Paula

Paula, there are some programs set up where they send all in the info in to insurance after you have attended a seminar, you don't see the doctor for the first time until after insurance approval. Then there are those where you see the doc one time for a consultation first. Ask if they have approval, that might be the answer. Brenda

Paula, Sometimes these patients may be self pay, when that is the case and you don't have any insurance hoops to jump through you can be scheduled right away. If not, we usually recommend to get the insurance approval first, otherwise it's sort of giving the patient false hopes to set a date if you have to change it 5 times. Dr. C
