Hello, I'm still waiting on approval from medicaid. But my pcp called me today and told me that she would rather I go to Barix than OSU, which was my first choice. I don't know why really, (I was half asleep) but she said Barix patients have a better outcome??? She also said that the Barix clinic would help me get approval quicker. To all of you that have had surgery with Barix, does any of this sound familiar? Last I heard they didnt take medicaid. Then a friend of mine told me they just started recently. I'm calling them in the morning to ask, but I was just wondering what your experiences were? Would you recommend the place or any certain surgeon? Thanks.

Barix would not lift a finger to help with MY approval. That ended up to be a good thing, as when I continued my serach, I found Dr Curry. I may have to travel almost 3 hours, but it has been worth it!!! Dr Curry and staff moved mountians for me. I am down almost 100# YEA!!!

I just found out that I was approved after only 6 days. I have been very happy with the staff so far. I have not gotten a surgery date b/c I have to have medical clearance and I just got my CPAP machine today. I think it will be in the next 6 weeks or so....I have to be on CPAP for 6 weeks before surgery. Good luck with your findings. Each and everyone of us will have diffferent opinions and that's why this place is so great.

I have heard many good things about Groveport. I decided on OSU because I wanted to be where I could be treated for any complications. I was approved after 1 week with my insurance Definity Health. I had excellent care at OSU. Every one was great. Great followup also. You have to make the choice. Goodluck with your choice.

I liked the extensive education through OSU and even though I had to meet different criteria such as diet and dietician consults I thought it made me very prepared and ready for this major change. I do not know anything about the other programs to give my opinion one way or another. I had a last minute (literally 5 days before surgery) insurance glitch and they moved mountains to give me my surgery date. Be educated when making your choice! Just because something is faster doesn't make it better! Mel

Thanks for all the replies. However, my doctor made a mistake. I called Barix and they said they do NOT accept medicaid. So I called my pcp back and she's out until tomorrow. I'm lost....
