Hi all...question???
I am 9 weeks out, and down 50 pounds... at my 6 week follow up the nutritionist says I'm not eating enough..
who would have thought I would ever hear that!!!
Problem.. I still just don't want to eat! nothing sounds good. things taste ok but not great. I'm thirsty and a little dehydrated.. meats just seem nasty to me.
I can do dairy but am afraid of dumping like I did the week after surgery on milk.
I think I need spice and flavor not just plain meat. any sugestions? I can barely get down 1/4 cup of food.
I got back from Disney World Today.. and at least I was able to keep up! It was a great trip with my whole family.. 24 of us!
thanks~pam
I bought some sugar free barbeque sauce at walmart and I use it to flavor most of the meat I eat. I also eat lots of different types of beans...usually Pintos and Cheese at Taco Bell. Have you tried eating more meals thruout the day. I stick to 3 but I know a girl who eats 6 small meals a day and it works for her. At least you would be getting more food in.
Sounds like you had fun at Disney. Haven't been there for years!

Hi PAM! Try to start getting hydrated first thing in the morning. If you can't handle drinks try 2 sugar-free popsicles. I have noticed if I am dehydrated I cannot eat. I think it shrinks our pouched plus the natural progression on dehydration is loss of appetite. I have been able to eat a slice of cheese (from block) also try some cottage cheese, I sprinkle different seasoning on it like Mrs. Dash, seasoning salt, and some of Emeril's seasonings. I also have cut up cucumbers and tomatoes VERY fine and mixed it with it with some salt and pepper.
Also, if sonething didn't agree with you try it again later, I did this with cheese and cottge cheese. Sometimes you grow into it.
I also like Culver's soups, do you have one close by? or another soup place to get carryout. Don't do Broccoli and cheese, ouch! Do you like wedding soup?

I ate a lot of yogurt for the protein. Also, chili. Bush's chili with beans and meat is good. I too, found that I craved lots of flavor after the surgery. I liked to dump salsa on everything! Yum! Also, add shredded cheese to things. It is good for adding 9 grams of protein. So, chili with cheese is close to 25 grams of protein. Good luck.

I started by buying the shredded lettuce the kind you use for tacos and adding chunky salsa to it along with sour cream. Also soups were my friends---all kinds! My first meals at restaurants were chowder and Panera's broccoli cheese soup. I too still look for strong flavors and still can't eat chicken or pork or most lunchmeats.
I can only eat bread if it is crusty (roll that comes with soup) which is OK since I have done low-carb for so long it seems alien to eat bread anyway. Lean Cuisines are fine---I still pick the saucier ones and avoid all the chicken. Beans work very well going down but then the biohazard/air quality becomes an issue. I guess if you live alone this isn't a problem, as long as you don't suffocate your pet.
If it's got horns or fins, I can eat it. Thank God for cows.
