My husband and I went away Sat for our 14th anniversary. We stayed at The Inn at Honey Run in Amish Country. It was WONDERFUL! It is so peaceful there. When we arrived they had upgraded our room to a deluxe. It had a balcony overlooking a wooded area, a couch, king size bed and plenty of room! They also had a bottle of non-alcoholic wine chilled for us! There dining room is also wonderful. I was actually able to eat!!! I had a cup of the roasted eggplant soup and the scallop appetizer which had a pancetta sauce and chopped portabella mushrooms. We lingered over dinner for almost 2 hours so everything stayed down well. I have to recommend this place if anyone needs to get away. We visited a cheese shop only because I have been to amish country several times to shop but this weekend was all about us! Mel

Mel- that sounds awesome..I am originally from Lancaster county in PA...my grandmother, a minneonite and my brother is an elder in the minneonite church. (they are very much like the Amish, except they believe in cars and electricity)...other than that their religious beliefs, as well as the way the dress (esp, the women).. are very much alike. I love going there and would love to visit other places like you mentioned here. Can you email me with more detail of where this is? [email protected] Thanks

Thank You for letting me know that there is romance in Ohio. I will be moving there very very soon. ( the Columbus area) and after living all my life in southern California, you can only imagine my fears. Hubby is taking the kids ahead of me so we wont be spending much time together over the next few weeks so upon unpacking and unloading...a much due romantic getaway might be exactly what we will need. I have never been to Amish areas but love anything that has to do with small town and romance....(blushing here). Wish me luck in my new relocation from Cali to Buckeye. Hugs from Southern Cali Lisa

Hi Lisa. I hope you'll find happiness in the midwest! I moved to the Cincinnati area from Florida and never looked back. Another romantic locale is Louisville KY, only a few hours away. There are dozens of B&B's out there.
