I am still having trouble getting enough fluids let alone food. I want a big glass of ice water sooooo bad!!!! Taking sips doesn't quench my thirst. I know some of it is becasue I am always dehydrated and can't catch up. When will I be able to eat food without getting sick or feeling sick? Protein drinks are too thick and do not sit well with me, whine, whine, whine. I have lost 40# so I should be happy. I am off ALL of my Diabetic medications and my a160 was 5.6 unbelievable! it was 8.0 and I was ready for insulin right before my surgery!!! I know I need to focus on the positive.

When I was at your stage... I was severly dehydrated and could not keep food or fluids down. They admitted me to OSU for fluids and severe potassium deficiency and did the stricture test on me. Good news I did not have the stricture, but being severely dehydrated can make you feel like you have been. Please call Dr Needleman if you have not already. Don't let this continue as you could have problems . Can you handle cottage cheese? That was my source of protein for awhile. If you have any questions.... please feel free to email me. Best Wishes Julie

It was for me. Check with your doctor. It took me about 5 months before I could really get things to settle down and get enough food and water to stay down. My surgeon gave me meds that helped with the sick tummy. It helped a great deal. Good luck to you. Oh and I forgot one day and gulped a bunch of water. I spewed like a whale taking a deep breath. I was just glad that no one was around to see it!

Don't have any suggestions but want to know I appreciate your posts. I am on track for surgery in July or August and I appreciate hearing about your successes and challenges. I hope it gets better but also agree when in doubt always call the doctor. Prayers for you. Dianna

HEY Mel!!!! I understand about wanting the ice water.... boy I miss that. I'm alays thirsty too. The surgeon told me some people feel nausea along time after because of the dividing of the nerves thay had to do during surgery. I am queezy all the time- hate it. And can't do protein either.... but slooooowly geting better. The health improvements are incredible aren't they? I am off my blood pressure meds already... and doing well there. At least the nausea keeps us in line... I sure don't want to eat ... Hang in there. Peace~pam

Thanks everyone for your support. I see the Doctor soon and will call if I do not do better Monday and Tuesday. I have concluded the toughest part of the day is morning until 3p. I think it takes me this long when I wake up to push the fluids and get hydrated enough that I can eat. I am trying to drink 6-8 ounces of water after 9p to get me through the night. I used to have to get up and go to the bathroom but I do not have that problem now. I did go back on sf popsicles, breakfast of champions!!! Mel
