I have some news and a question.
Hello all
I got my letter for the OSU Bariatric Center. It says that my psyc. evaluation revealed that I have some issues related to food.......
Well why would they think that, Duh!!! Tell me something I don't know. LOL
Anyway, they suggested 4 months of therapy and then come back to be reevaluated.
Also...... the second part of the letter stated that the insurance company want me to have 9 months of supervised diet programs before I have my surgery. I have already done a 3 month program so I just have 6 months to go.
Now for my question, The insurer would not have me doing all these diets, if they were not planning on paying for my surgery. Right????
I just hope this is true.
Jimmy
Thanks in advance for all your help.
Jimmy,
My insurance company approved me right after I finished the6th month diet. I never lost any weight I played with 5 pounds. Just do what they say. They know they cannot deny you. So they want you to meet all their criterias. 6 months will go by fast just keep active and and you will have your surgery in Nov. Summer is comming up. Just try and make the best of it.
Hugs
Barb
The diet might be one last "college try", but it will also help you get into better shape to aid you in a better recovery. Be sure to weigh in on time every month at the doctor's, as I've heard of people needing to start all over again if they weigh in too late.
You can use that time to do more research to better prepare you and resolve those food issues they found in your psych eval. That will be very important to ensure your success. WLS is not a "sure thing". You can sabotage it, and the therapy will help put you in a lower risk of doing such a thing.
Jimmy,
I had so many roadblocks to having my surgery and hated each and every one of them. But in hindsight I truly believe that those delays were for the very best in the longrun. I needed that extra time to emotionally prepare to give up my constant friend and lover.. FOOD. Food is what I turned to when I was sad, lonely, depressed, stressed, mad and to celebrate every family event and every holiday imaginable. So use this time to try and get those issues under control. Journeling really helped me during this time. And also use this time to get your body into tip top physical shape which will make your post op period go so much better. I know the delay is a bummer, but try and look at it from a positive way. God is the only one who truly knows your future, and maybe he is telling you that its just not the very best time for you to be sucessful right this very minute. But you WILL have this procedure and you WILL do great!!!!
Lots of Love and hugs
Laura
BTW.. I jumped through every hoop for 2 and a half years to get Ohio medicaid to approve it, but in the end it was worth every leap and jump.
Hugs.. And hang in there Mr Hendrix..

Jimmy,
Have you ever gone to any of the OSU support group meetings?
I attended them before I had the surgery. They are very helpful, plus you get to talk to others that are waiting, or had the surgery, or are veterans who are 3 or more years out.
A group of us meet before the meetings and have dinner. You are more than welcome to join us. If you want to come... email me or something and I will make sure you get on the list.
They are a great group of people and have helped me in so many ways.
Have a great weekend!
Julie
