Results of Lap Band???
I had mine in November. I figure my weight loss from my highest and that puts me right at 100lb down. Some of that was lost before surgery but I don't remember how much.
All and all I would do it again. I recomend Dr. Curry. I had alot of issues choosing between RNY an Band. I have folks I know who rub it in hard that in similar amount of time with RNY they have lost much more, but I am not discuraged. I am still loosing and but for my recent first bite issues I have had no problems. With excercise I was loosing 10lb a week, But I don't get to the gym near enough anymore. I am still loosing but the addition of working out makes all the diffrence in the world.
Okay, Rob.
I'm not a bandster, but I did lots and LOTS of research to determine which procedure was right for me, and I didn't choose the band OR the RNY, but that's a different subject. I came here to answer your question.
I read about a study comparing the lapband with the RNY and compared weight loss over time. At the end of the first year, the RNY was losing more weight, but at the second year, they were the same for average weight loss. With that known, you can go with what you're most comfortable with.
Now, I dare you to ask me about the DS (LOL)
Rob:
I would recommend you check out the lapband forum, where a large number of veteran bandsters reside. You can get some good info specific to the lap band there. I'm a newbie, but so far I'm pleased with my results. I'm down 21 pounds and the recovery was so quick. I was back at work within days of the procedure and I feel pretty normal now.
And I notice you live in Columbus, so you've got Barix right nearby in Groveport, which specializes in bariatrics. That's where I went and I was very pleased. I think there are a lot of advantages to the lap band, so good luck with your research.
