Hey, Em... One of my co-workers did, she loved him! He is one of the 2 docs at St. V's program that does open surgeries. My surgery was with their 3rd partner, Dr. Ben-Meir who does laproscopic. I felt very comfortable with their office although some days things get behind. They have several people in the office that have had the surgery so that give you one more person to talk to about their experiences. Best wishes, Melissa

Hi Em, I had Dr. Sonpal and was very happy with how my surgery turned out. I had no complications, and have lost 180 lbs to date! I am 16 months out and weigh 187 lbs, with a starting weight of 367! Also, SVC is rated one of the top gastric bypass hospitals in the country. They take every precaution to be sure that you are going to be safe and they also have the longest track record in the Cleveland Area for gastric bypass. If you were having open heart surgery....wouldn't you want to go to the best and most experienced? I felt the same way about my surgery. Good luck with your decision. Em, I am with Patti. University Hospital is great! I had Dr. Jasper...what a kind and caring doctor! He has a great sense of humor too! The surgeons, nurses, etc....all come to all the post-op and pre-op meetings! What a wealth of information you get when coming to the meetings. I will be a year out on June 1st and have lost 195 pounds! I am now at my goal of 130...actually I am 5 pounds under that and feel great! If you have any questions please feel free to contact me! Em I'm not real sure about Dr. Sonpal but I have his partner Dr. Schreiber who founded the program at St V's I know they both work hand and hand along with there third partner Dr. Ben-Meir. From the research I've done they rated as one of the top 5 Bariatric Centers in the Country. So I agree with Linda if you want the best then consider going with them. Jim
