I ate a tamale!!!!
I was at a party today, and I couldn't eat the grilled chicken or any of the sides. A relative of my sister-in-law is Hispanic and the topic of tamales came up and she had just stopped at a mexican bakery and bought her favorite homemade tamales and she shared them with us. I tried the hot one (not knowing) and thought better of swallowing it and she brought in mild one. I was able to eat a whole one with NO TROUBLE! It settled nicely and didn't "swell up" First great meal in 4 weeks! Mel

I never feel like an oddball when I am out..it will be 3 years for me next month and I can tell you, I felt more like the odd person out when I was not participating in the activities ..hot and sweaty sitting outdoors at picnics while others had on their little shorts and tops..
now, I fit in nicely and just find other things to do besides eat!!....I have found that I have more fun walking around talking to people, playing with the kids..actually allowing someone take my pic..than I ever did sitting on the sidelines wishing I felt more like doing what everyone else was doing..
you just have to take a new attitude..even when I go out to eat with friends..I am there for the company..to enjoy conversations and laughter..I never think of myself being different and have yet to have someone draw attention to the fact I am not eating...if I don't make a big deal out of it, they don't either.. I can eat almost anything today, even my favorite, mexican, foods..but I am pretty compliant..I try to think of myself more of a healthfood eater than someone who can't enjoy eating at all ..
