first post op appt

Well I had my surgery on May 4th... everything went well. I have had a rough first week... All I could do is think about food but nothing smelled or tasted good at all. I was able to get in 30-40gm of protien a day. I had my first post op visit with Dr Mikami today and i lost .... 14 lbs. 7% of my body fat he was so happy and bragging about me to the nurses and nut... I felt great.... i can now start step 3 diet. I am kinda scared to eat... I guess this is normal...I can start walking now. I have to get my strength back to go to Disney in June with my whole family.........diane

HI Diane, I am a fellow May baby. I had my surgery on May 1st. I know what you mean by the head hunger. I never used to think that much about food, but now I have started even watching the Food Channel. How crazy is that? I'm not hungry, but I like looking at all the neat stuff. I sure this will pass once I get off clear liquids. My 4 year old daughter wants to go to Disney so bad. I think we may plan a trip too, but in July or August. It sure will be hot then! Let me know how your trip goes & if you have any travel tips. We haven't been to Disney in 8 years. Darlene

Darlene, I had head hunger so bad I had to get on depression pills. Now I am on depression pills all the time. I found out it helps with my getting so depressed over food. The first month almost killed me. It was like I couldnt stand to see my family eat. I felt so left out. Now I deal with this great !!! Barb

Darlene, I've had the suit for years...it has lasted a long time b/c at 200++++lbs, I hardley ever feel like wearing a bathing suit. I do like it though...it is one of the few that contains my bosom buddies! The skirt is a sarong that I was lucky enough to find while in Mexico...I love it...also, while in Mexico, I went scuba diving and loved it!! I highly recommend it to everyone...it is a weightless world under the water! Betina

Hi Diane! It is good to hear from you. I was in your 4-week diet class and I have been thinking about you and Gail. I have not heard anything fom Gail yet. I hope she is doing well. When we were in class, I did not have insurance approval. I just found out Friday that I am approved!!! I am very happy. I dont think I will have my surgery until maybe July due to my schedule. I am so happy that things are going well for you. Betina

Hi Betina.. Thanks for keeping up with me. I am so thrilled you got approval. Let me know when your surgery is. Gail walked down to my room to see me the day of my surgery but i was pretty drugged and could only say HI... she said she did really well.

Darlene... THis year my parents celebrated their 50 anniversary and instead of a party they are taking our entire family... 24 of us... to Disney for a week. I am so excited... I hope Disney is ready for us. I will lst you know how it goes. My sister also had WLS in April so we will be able to support each other on the trip......diane

That is wonderful, 50 years is a great accomplishment! Your family is going to have so much fun at Disney, especially since your sister is going through this with you. Darlene
