Someone please help me! I've checked the nutritional reviews for protein powders etc and am just as confused as ever. I'm 19 days post op and in desperate need of protein suggestions. My husband bought me a natural powder from GNC but I can taste it in everything I mix it in. I am adding milk powder flakes to pudding etc. and that is obviously helping. The Atkins type shakes give me diarrhea so those are out. Do I get something to mix in my food? Mix with water for fruit drink? Chocolate shake stuff. How do you all get your protein in? I'm still on pureed food and it is impossible! PLEASE help me!!! Any suggestions? I look horrible. I am fairskinned anyway and right now I am as pale as a sheet with dark circles under my eyes. I am very weak and think I would feel much better with some protein. Thank you so much, Cora Beth

Ah the age old question Protein. At your stage, pureed, it's tough but you can do it. I tried many different powders and have settled on Matrix 5.0 choc. I make hot choc in the morning & evening. Right there is 40 grms. I put it in choc pudding and had it during the day when I was on pureed. I mix peach tea with nector fuzzie navel and I can't taste the protein at all! That's 24 grm's for 8-16 oz drink Some protein's you can taste. I like unjury unflavored & strawberry. The protein powder isn't as strong for me. Everyone's taste buds are different & even change as we go thru the first months. Try different things yes it gets expensive but remember for most of us this is going to be part of our new life. There are those that get their protein in with food, I'm trying to work toward that, but for now I'm sitting here sipping my Matrix hot choc. Good Luck! Denise W 398/283

Hi Cora, Have you tried Unjury unflavored? I had bought it prior to my surgery but after surgery I couldn't stand it....but after a few month I could....go figure, but maybe you can, now I put it in my coffee or what ever I can. My suggestion is eat all the cottage cheese you can....it is very high in protien...this is what I did, it really hard at first to get what you need in, well its really impossible right after surgery, but they really want you to concentrate more on fluids right after surgery. YOu can add the unjury to cottage cheese, milk, jello, basically anything, you can order it at unjury.com. Unjury also has chocolate, vanilla and strawberry sorbert....the chocolate is really good, I could handle it after surgery, but the strawberry is yucky to me!! The vanilla is pretty good, but I think the chocolate is the best of all 3...go figure I always hated most chocolate things until after surgery, but your taste buds change they say after surgery!!! Another suggestions is chicken....it is one of the most highest protein foods there is, I had a hard time for several months after surgery eating it but okay now!! Good luck and I hope some you get to feeling better, I know its really rough after surgery but believe me, it does get better....thank GOD!!! Luv, Tabitha 303/171.8

I have been very happy with the protein poweder I am using. I usually have problems with digestion, but have never had a problem with this one. It has a very pleasant taste as well. It is called Fit 365. You can get it from their website, fit365.com, but you can get it a *****eaper from arizonatrainer.com (my former trainer). Hannah

Cora Beth, Here are my protein reviews: Protein Delight (chocolate, banana, coconut). Very good with little protein taste. I make a smoothie with them---1 Cup Carbcountdown milk, one scoop protein, and ice. I also add frozen fruit to this sometimes. Unjury unflavored. (I can taste the protein.) BUT once again when made into a smoothie (this one works really well with frozen peaches, it's quite good. POwercrunch when you get a little further out. AchievOne is a coffee flavored drink similar ro a Starbuck's frappacinco. It's VERY good served cold and over ice. But check with your dr. on caffeine. I thinks it's made with real coffee. Cottage cheese, pureed refried beans with a dollop of sour cream (gives you mucho gas but who cares), pureed Wendy's chili, American cheese slices (couldn't handle string or regular for awhile), Blue Bunny lo-carb yogurt, ricotta cheese with spaghetti sauce, and the Carbcountdown milk got me through the beginning stages. A note on chicken. MOST people have no issues with chicken but some of us urp at the first flapping of feathers. I could eat ground beef and turkey almost from the beginning without problems but I still am very "allergic" to chicken; I can never tell how it's going to sit. I have cases of Isopure in my dining room and lots of little bags of various potions, nectars, and matrices, and Sylvester Stallone in my pantry. You just have to try some things until you find what works for you. Good luck! Karen -107.5
