Blood thinners?

I was wondering if anyone who has RNY had to have blood thinner injections done after surgery? My surgeon will be Dr. Needleman or Dr. Makami at OSU?

Connie, Some surgeons do this routinely, some only on patients who are higher risk for blood clots. It's a better-safe-than-sorry kind of thing. Dr. C

Yes, Dr Mikami does blood thinner injections for all of his patients after surgery! At least he did last June!! Good luck! Tabitha

Connie I had them they didn't hurt I was just told not to rub the spot where they were injected because the will bruse easy. good luck Michael

Yes blood thinners injected in tummy one before surgery then for the days i was in hospital. Sounds more painful than it is but boy the bruising is unbelievable lol. True about better safe than sorry. Tammy O
