I know due to me being a few points shy on my BMI this is the next step for me but its such a slow process I saw the doctor  3 weeks ago and i'm still waiting.  I told them if by then I gained the weight I forget the test.

Sleep Apnea is one of the co-morbidities they look for. If you have it, then might qualify. My Doc said the only ones they consider are Diabetes, High Blood Pressure and Sleep Apnea.

Topic: Sleep Apena test

Hi! I recently had my 1st consult 1 week ago for SG and seems my BMI isn't at 40 its at 38.4 but i do have suffer from joint disease and have high cholesterol.  The doctor I saw told me I wasn't eligible due to my BMI and b/c I don't have any morbs.  I measured 5'1 when all along I thought I was 5'0 had I measured at this height I would have been a candidate  Anyway he's sending me for a sleep apena test, it's either this or I gain the 10lbs I need.  Sounds easy to gain I've been trying since last week and no luck!!!!

Has anyone else needed to do have this test done just to become a canidate, if so were you diagnosed with sleep apena?

Hi tony!  I'm thinking about checking out Monarch as well.  The doctor I saw for my psych eval thought it was a very good idea.  Is your wife also having surgery or going to support you?

I am in Rochester, NY and planning on Dr O'Malley as well. Began this final (I hope) journey last March when I attended one of his conferences. Just a couple more sessions with the RD and then I think I finally get to meet the good doctor.

guessing that I won't have the procedure until early next year, assuming my BCBS comes through.

researching like crazy, and hoping to attend the next MONARCH meeting with my wife, in November.

looking for active online communities relating to this subject.

my name is tony.

I had RNY in 2005 and lost but never what I should have and now I am gaining it back .Anyone have any luck at getting the insurance company to pay for a revision (I have Empire blue cross blue shield)  what are my revision options or how do you go about just getting a scan/test to see what may be the problem with my existing RNY. thanks a bunch.

Topic: Experience with Dr. Cushman?

I have my psych eval with her in a few weeks and I'm a bit nervous.  How is she to work with?  Did she pass you after one visit or make you come back for months of counseling?  I already see a psychiatrist who manages my mental health meds, and the surgeon's office knows all that, so I'm a bit annoyed I even have to go through this step...

Hello!  I'm from Rochester, also with Dr. O'Malley!  Best of luck, all this preop stuff can be exhausting :)

I'm in Rochester, Dr. O'Malley.  I'm thinking it'll happen in mid-November.  Looking for local people, too.
