I am 2 1/2 years post-op from Albany Medical Center. I had gastric bypass with Dr Dunnican (unfortunately he passed away). All of the doctors there are great. Hope to meet you sometime. We have a support group every Thursday at the South Campus. I try to post a weekly reminder here. Looking forward to meeting you there sometime.

The high protein diet will do it to you everytime. I use peri-colace (generic) every night. Works like a charm.

Hi - We don't have a Monday night group at AMCH. We do have an everyother Monday morning one. I can't get to that one due to work schedule. There is one in Saratoga that meets Monday evenings, not sure what time byut ZI do know that it is at Saratoga Hospital.

Hey everyone! I am new to the OH group. I am living in Troy and am just beginning my WLS journey. My doctor sent over my paperwork to Albany Med to get the ball rolling and I am very excited. Has anyone had their WLS at ablany med? What about support groups in the area?

Does anyone know if any doctors at Albany Med accept Medicaid/Wellcare for bariatric surgery? That is where my doctor sent the request over to and if not then I would have to go to Ellis.

I take Miralax (generic version) am and pm just to have a bm every couple of days. When I get desperate, I will add a dose of Milk of Magnesia. It seems to be a side effect of all the protein.

Am I the only one who's dealing with pre-op constipation? I'm on Medifast with one meal a day, but for the life of me, I can't poop. I know the iron is constipating, but I'm eating my lean and green one meal a day and can't do a deuce. Senna gives me horrific cramps and MOM just isn't working. HELP

Topic: Binghamton Area Support Group

Because of flooding and FEMA taking over the Vestal Library the September and October Meetings in Vestal were cancelled. For November and December I have been able to arrange meeting space at the George F. Johnson Library at 1001 Park Street in Endicott. But instead of the second Wednesday of the month the meetings will be on the second Thursday. So the meeting for November will be November 10th. Meet and greet and mingle will take place from 5:30 to 6 in the meeting room in the basement (there is an elevator for those who cannot do the stairs). And at 6 p.m. our long awaited guest speaker, Dr. Julie Dostal will talk about Choices and Challenges for the upcoming Holiday Season. There will also be a representative from Bariatric Advantage with some sample products as well as our regular OH magazines, handouts and other goodies. I am so appreciative of Dr. Dostal (our very own Julie) for being able to reschedule to offer this valuable talk to our members.

Decembers meeting will be on December 15th at the same time and place.

I look forward to seeing you there.
