Peeches35 sorry to hear about that! I was denied but Doc Roslin did a peer to peer and I got a call saying I was approved. So definitely let them handle it but in the meantime if you saw your primary doctor or GYN during the past 5 years, they weigh you. Get a copy of your records stating what you weighed and that should help as well.

I actually was approved within 5 days. However, I did do 6 months supervise diet and all pre opt testing.....was sleeved this past Wednesday. Good Luck to you, beleive me, six month goes quickly.

Well the best way togo about it, is to let the surg office deal with the ins people. They know what to tell them and how to handle it so you can have it. Yes most ins companies require a 6 month diet and some will say you have to lose so much weight. It is a long process but it is woth the wait, I promise you that.

NOW I WAS denied WLS so waiting on peer to peer decision now I spoke to someone from insurance company I never had a supervise diet, I think that's the problem Dam what can i do i been so stress i just got of my diet, started eating more they only ask for my 5 years weight history now they talking about 6 month supervise diet that crazy. anyone on here who was denied and still won they appeal with out 6 month diet. they told me i was denied cause it was not medically necessary.

I ended up calling the bariatric program at AMC and they said I can start by going to the 2 mandatory classes I just need to get the extra money to pay for it first and then I am going to come to that and start the support meetings.

Hello everyone, today makes 1 week that I have my surgery. Iam now 16 pounds lighter and feeling just great. thanks everyone for my replies they do really mean alot.

Are you sure that you need a letter from your primary? Not all plans require primary doctor approval or a referral. Call Albany Med and find out what they need for your plan. If you need to have it bug the crap out his/her office to get it. They will eventually will send it just to get you to stop calling.
You can come to the support group without having started the program. Every Thursday evening, 5:30 - 7:30 in the conference room at the South Clinical Campus where the office is. Come on over and get started on that part of the journey. I'm there almost every week.
