I had my surgery almost 4 years ago with Dr Clarke.  The staff at the hospital and the Bariatric Center are great!  I had my surgery on a Thursday afternoon, leak test on Friday and was home before noon on Sat.

Couple of things for you too keep in mind.  It is really hard to get your liquids and protein in at first, but it becomes much easier.  What tastes good to you know will not necessarily taste good to you post op.  Things tasted very sweet to me afterward, not sure if this was because of the Medifast diet or a result of the surgery.

One thing that most people experience is a feeling of "what have I done to myself?" or "have I made the biggest mistake in my life?"  For me this only lasted  about 15 to 30 minutes and I have never regretted my decision since.

Good luck, I am sure you will do fine.  Follow the rules with your post op diet, have some good support systems and you will do very well with this.  Feel free to send me a message if you have any questions.

Yes I have. Someone suggested posting on the NY message board because I didn't get any responses from the main one either. So I am trying both :)

I am having my surgery February 16th at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady NY. I was so hoping to get in touch with other people who have had it done in the same hospital but no luck really. i have seen maybe one other person who posted something a while ago, but nothing recently. When and where is your surgery?

I know I will have a ton of questions, but it'll be good to get this faulty lapband out and be on the way to losing..

Topic: Primary care and WLS
I am in Syracuse, NY are and I am wondering if anyone has had a positive experience with a local primary care provider when addressing weight loss issues. That is to say someone not opposed or generally dismisive of  people seeking weight loss surgery. I don't have one right now... I'm a Nurse Practitioner myself and I have to admit MD's, NP's, PA's,Nurses, etc. are just the worst when it comes to following up on our own care. I work in psychiatry and I've found that many of my obese patients have had a hard time convincing primary care to take their 50+ BMI seriously.  It's time to do something about the weight problem before I develop problems that can't be reversed or managed.

Any help or insight is greatly appreciated.

Have you tried posting on the main board instead of the local. There isn't much activity here but the people on the main board are very smart. Do not worry they are supportive also.
