I realize your post was a while ago, but how are you?  I am in the same situation right now.  And wondering how it turned out for you.  Take Care

Topic: RE: Bariatric Support Groups?
You can always ask at your dr's office, someone there might know of others. There are also online support groups. Check the ones on FB, you might find someone local to you that knows. If you go on support groups on FB make sure they are private, closed or secret if you don't want people to know. Otherwise there are open groups. If you need help finding groups let me know.

HI! I am an RNY patient from ALbany Med. I am very active in our support group and we do have a few that come over from Ellis from time to time. You are more than welcome too. We also have a facebook page if you are interested. I can send you the info on either if you like.

If you have any questions about anything feel free to PM me here.

Topic: Bariatric Support Groups?
Hello.. I am working on gett everything done to have my surgery.  I was wondering if anyone knew of any support groups in the Ulster, Dutchess, Orange County area..

I know that NDH has theirs on Tuesday and St. Francis is on Weds but  I work both of those nights.  Does anyone know of any on Monday, Thurs, Fri, Sat, or Sundays?

Thanks ahead of time.

I had a private room, my wife had a room mate.  We both had to be at home over night for our kids.  The first night you are so sleepy from the anesthesia that you will just sleep I think I woke up about 3 AM and they took me for a walk and I went back to bed.  The morning after they get you moving pretty early for the leak test, so you don't have too much time to think.

Good luck

I just sent you a friend request on here! I am in Hudson Falls so I am right around the corner from you! How funny :) I am a little nervous about the procedure, but am looking forward to it. I am just nervous because I am afraid I will have that "what have I done" feeling and also, I don't really have any health issues right now and I'm afraid what if this causes some? Like anemia and vitamin deficiency? I am pretty healthy for the most part. There is diabetes in my family and I am doing this to prevent me from getting it too and also just because I am sick of being heavy! I could use all the support I can get on here. Not that I don't have support at home, because I do! My husband is awesome, just looking for more support from fellow RNYer's!

Thank you so much for responding. I was really looking to hear from someone who had Dr. Clarke. I really like him and I'm not that worried but I did want to hear from another one of his patients. I am kind of worried about that whole "what have I done to myself" feeling or "have I made a big mistake", but from what you and a lot of other people are telling me, it doesn't last for long. I hope it doesn't for me either! I am not doing the medifast diet. I am doing the lean& green and have been doing pretty good so far. I was 298 when I frist got weighed on December 28th and am now 279. I would be less if my treadmill was working- waiting for some lubricant so it will work right again in the meantime! I hope my procedure goes as smooth as yours did! Please keep in touch! I have my husband who has been very good about everything and will be there with me for the surgery. Do you know if he will be able to stay in the hospital with me for my stay? I hope so! I will really need him there with me. He is my rock! Well, thank you again. You have made me feel alot better!! :)
