Topic: RE: Anyone at AMC in Saranac Lake?
Hi! I just had my surgery last week at AMC! It all depends on how long the insurance companies take. I had a lapband that failed and had to have it removed and the RNY done. It took a little longer and the insurance company turned it down initially. But Dr. Hixson went to their throat and got it approved.
I thought .. hey this surgery will be a piece of cake. Take my word from an "old retired" nurse.. it's not. Everything that they tell you at AMC is true... but remember it is major surgery. You can't just jump up and start doing what you used to. I have been home since Sunday and still feel woozy at times, great at times, emotional at times, all of the gamut.
Keep up with the nurses at AMC to tell them about your time frames too. That will keep your file on the "top of the pile".
If you need anything just email me.

Topic: RE: Does anyone have any experience with the approval process through Fidelis Care NY?
Im going for my first vivist with the surgeon this Friday (3/30/2012) I also have Fidelis Care NY. I have been trying for many years to get approved for surgery in Miami, but had no luck. Hopefully this will be the last try and actually get approval. What were your requirements? Did you get approved? I really want to get approved and I also want to make sure I have everything i need to submit to my insurance.

Topic: RE: Going bald! (x-post)
My niece Katie had her head shaved on March 18th. She's only 12 but is the most beautiful person I know, shaved or not. I'm thinking about doing it next year. It's a wonderful cause. :)

Topic: Anyone at AMC in Saranac Lake?
Hi everyone! I am currently awaiting my surgery date. All of my tests and studies are done and my insurance has been approved for months.
Does anyone know how long it will take for the surgeons office to call? Or how long the average wait will be for surgery at AMC?
My employers have given me the go ahead to take the time off for surgery as long as it's done before our peak season starting at the end of April. The more time that goes by the more I worry about not being able to have the surgery because it's taking so long.
I've been in the program since the end of December and all of my visits, tests, studies have been done since February 24th and I have already attended the liquid diet pre-op seminar and bought my shakes. Starting in December I didn't think there would be any problem having the surgery by April. :/
Any experiences would be helpful. :)

You may still need to up your protein count. That is one of the most important things to consider concerning hair loss. If it doesn't slow down, contact your dr. Good luck!

Jessica,
I had my band for 7 years and then it slipped and I had it taken out. I gained 90 lbs back in one year. I thought I could do it on my own, but sadly I could not. I wish I had the band taken out and a revision at the same time. 3 weeks ago I had the sleeve done. The first week is tough, but it has beeen smooth sailing since. If you can have it done at the same time-- do it.
Good Luck
