Topic: Middletown NY or NYC area?
Hi everyone, I'm 4 months post op and just hoping to find some people around the same area as me to get to know. Looking for a potential workout body, and someone to help keep me motivated, and looking for some motivation back. message me if interested.  I live in Middletown Ny but always down in the bronx visiting my Fiance. So if you want a buddy to work out with while I am down in the NYC I be much obliged!

Topic: RE: revising from band to bypass any advice
I'm trying to do the same thing. I have horrible heartburn and reflux when there is any restriction. I've had my band for over 2 years and am almost back up to my pre-op weight after having lost 70lbs. I was only able to lose that much because my band was so tight I couldn't eat anything. It's been a horrible roller coaster of fills and unfills. Nightmare. I hope I can get this stupid thing out soon and get the RNY. I went to the Seminar for RNY a month ago and the surgeon there said, "One in every three Lap-band patients will have to have their band removed due to failure or complications." That's not very comforting. Wish I had known this before hand. Good luck!

I heard the New York Bariatric Group at St. Charles Hospital is much better.  Dr. Angstadt is much nicer than Ahmad. I heard Mather is a factory with no personalized care.

Topic: Hi
Hi all! Haven't been around much. Life has been getting in the way of an awful lot lately, mostly getting in the way of me taking care of me.

I am still active in my support group at Albany Med but have decided to create a group of my own here too. Just recently completed OH's Support Group Leader Training and thought what better way to use that knowledge but to start a small group here.
This is a link to my group page.

Anyone is welcome to join if you so wish. Doesn't matter if you are from Albany or not. Any part of the state is welcome, any type of surgery. Would love to have you aboard.

If I don't approve your request right away it is probably cause something in my life got in the way.

Have a lovely day!

Best place to start is with Total Care - call them and ask them those questions. Most typical insurances will look for documentation of  recurrent rashes and that the excess skin interferes with your daily life. Do not mention at all, no matter how tempted, that it affects your mental status. I have been told by someone that works for an insurance company in the prior approval area that if you tell your doctor something like that and he/she writes it down, you will NEVER get it covered by insurance. It automatically means in their eyes that you are looking at having it done for vanity reasons. Insurance will only cover if it is for health reasons. Most will only cover panniculectomy, front only or circumfrential. Breasts sometimes will get covered if the weight is affecting your life, not because the hang. Arms, legs, neck almost never get covered.

I'm doing pretty good.I have gained about 20 pounds since thanksgiving.A lot of stress in my life right now.I'm working on losing it.

Congratulations on losing the 50 pounds! I too lost weight slowly. At my first check up 13 days later,I lost 23 pounds, but after that it slowed down a bit.It took me about a year and a half to lose my weight.I lost a total of 148 pounds.10 pounds before surgery. When I talked to my heart doctor about losing weight slower than others,he told me its better to lose it slowly because it gives your metabolism a chance to catch up.

I really didn't know too much about the surgery either before I had it.I just knew I really needed to lose the weight and my doctor told me this would be the best way.
