Topic: 5 years after surgery
Hello all! It has been a while since I've posted on this board. I haven't forgotten about it lol. It was the first place I decided to visit when I realized yesterday I celebrated five years having gastric bypass surgery. It has been a wonderful journey. A complete physical and mental transformation. By far the greatest decision I've made in my life!
I wish everyone who's going to have and had surgery all the best of luck in life. If anyone has any questions regarding my five year journey, I'm here and willing to answer any question you ask.
Again best of luck to everyone! And remember, the surgery is not a pill rather a tool. Bad habits must be release, while new ones are created. Educate yourself on food and what certain foods does to your body and to your mental ability as well. When I was 420 pounds I had no idea what certain foods did to my body. As long as it taste good I ate it....And LOTS of it. Read read read about nutrition. It's the best advice I can give.
Take care!

Topic: RE: Bariatric Support Groups?
Does your Clinic or hospital have a Web site? Check there for the Support Groups. Mine has a web site for the hospital and then I can go to the WLS part of the hospital on the site and everything is there. Plus they have a yahoo support site (Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown NY)

Make sure you get protein....take biotin and make sure you are not Zinc deficient. Good luck. I have read that not getting your protein in the first few months, makes a big difference as you get 4-6mths out. Don't know if this is your case; but there's also good shampoo that can help(I forget the name at the moment....if I think of it, I will share it with ya).Wishin you the best.
Topic: NEWBIE here....anyone doing RNY in Cooperstown NY?
Such a long process and still waiting for the surgery date....AUGH.
Topic: RE: revising from band to bypass any advice
I used Geiss as well.....what a great SALESMAN he was for the band! I kept that stupid thing in for 4 miserable years. Fill, unfill, fill, unfill. I found Dr. Vohra on a Friday afternoon. Met with him the following Monday, he had me in for emergency surgery that Thursday to remove my band and 2 months later he bypassed me! I couldn't be happier and im at my goal weight! Well, I was at my goal weight, I cheated a bunch this winter so I put a few pounds on, but Im working to get the 12 pounds off. Ill do it with no problem as 12 pounds is nothing compared to the 143 I lost!!
Any questions feel free to PM me! We live in the same town, I can even meet you!
Good Luck!!
