Topic: Weight gain

Things have not been going so smoothly lately for me.  I find weight creeping back on and my support meetings less supportive because I've been told by the moderator that I bring "negativity" to the room!!!  go figure???  She wonders why I even "bother" coming, what I could possibly get out of it and she even mentioned (in front of the entire room no less) that she was going to talk to me about it???!!!!  I really have to contain myself because I didn't know that I had to talk only about the good things post-op instead of my trials on my journey.  If you are not in Disney Land mode always bragging about some monumental episode to sell the surgery to people who are not supposed to be at a POST-op meeting, then why bother having meetings at all????

The bottom line is that I know I need to get back on track but I no longer have trust and confidence in my surgeon's team to guide me after these kinds of comments.  Anyone can make a recommendation?  I will look into what I can.  Thanks for your help.

Forgot something last night - IV iron requires prior approval from your insurance company and most won't pay till you are below 11 or less. That is pretty standard with most insurances. They also won't cover B12 until you are below 'normal'.

I might be interested. Have several costumes, including the one that I brought to Rye Brook and never wore.

I dropped to 9 something before they did IV iron. I am at 12 right now and my nutritionist is very happy with that - she even fired my hematologist. Right now she has me taking 1 teaspoon of iron three times a day. I also take it with vitamin C to enhance absorption. Don't take it with your calcium as it will interfere with the absorption.

Good luck with it.

Topic: RE: doctor that accepts medicaid in NY..
There is a list two or three posts down from the top of this page. It is there all the time so you won't need to worry about it getting bumped off the page. You will have to sort out who is where tho, looks like there are alot of replies there. Perhaps you can call your local Medicaid office and find out who in your area takes it and which plans they take (there are several versions of Medicaid now).

Good luck

Hello Elizabeth
They are still having support groups in Corning until June from what I understand. Then they will stop. I live in Lawrenceville PA and I will be going to the one at Wilson Memorial in Johnson City its about an hour from Corning. Dr. Rahman who use to be at Arnot is now practicing there along with Dr. T who took me in as a patient when Arnot shut down . Him and his staff are wonderful and  are more then willing to take patients from our area due to the close. Hope this helps you some. If you would like to go and share a ride Im more then happy to take you along

Does anyone know of any support groups in my area?? Vestal is the closest I found but, it's still over an hour away... I need to find something much closer! I haven't been getting any post op visits done either since Arnot Ogden closed... can I just see my PCP for this??
