Walk to Make a Difference! YOU can really make a difference in the lives of those touched by obesity. While advances have been made in the prevention and treatment of obesity, more remains to be done. It is estimated that nearly 93 million Americans are affected by obesity and that number is predicted to climb to 120 million in the next five years. There is hardly a family anywhere that hasn't in some way been affected by obesity related illnesses. The Walk from Obesity combines an enjoyable event with the potential to raise significant sums for the fight against obesity. You do not need to walk to participate - you can cheer on the walkers as well. |
Congrats on your 3 years. It's easy to regain, I guess you don't realize *HOW EASY* until you're watching the numbers slowly creep up, but staying mindful is good not only for good health, but for a more sane and satisfying life....don't freak out...just stay mindful.

congrats on your 5 year surgiversary!

take care,
Lisa
I do not check in as regularly as I would like, but tomorrow is my 5 year surgiversary and I just wanted to say hi and see how everyone is fairing. Surgery precipitated many painful but good changes in my life. I got a divorce, obtained a master's degree and a new career as a Nurse Practitioner, and survived some medical scares that resolved well. I also regained 45 of the 130 lbs that I lost. I just rejoined Weigh****cher's, and it's slowly dripping off (like a leaky faucet....) but it didn't come on fast, so I guess I won't lose it fast. It's easy to think that you're invincible after surgery and such drastic weight loss, but the weight will creep on the same way it did initially, so to all those pre-ops and fresh post-ops: Stay as mindful as you possibly can. Stay active and healthy.
Peace out,
Amy

Nice to hear from you again. It's great that you're keeping an eye on your weight. 3.5 is easier to deal with than 30

I'm doing well. Still trying to figure out where my body wants to be as far as a final weight. I'm just along for the ride. My Dr. said my body will know when to stop.
Other than that I'm just taking it day by day.

I heard you can get an upper endoscopy if you really want to see if the pouch was done correctly or is stretching out. I'm starting to believe that my surgeon did not do the job correctly.
