I made sure to take various vitamins and minerals. I wanted to make sure I didn't go into the surgery with any vitamin deficiency. I also used some protein shakes - maybe one or two a week - just to try to get used to them a bit (but, as most people find out, after the WLS my tastes changed a little and I found I didn't like the taste as much). I used to like some of the pre-made shakes, but now they don't agree with me! ~~ Ilene Rachel

WHEN I was pre op i took my biotin, started my chewable vitamins and calcium. I figured it couldnt hurt to start and make good habits early. I also had to loose weight pre op so i also started drinking my water. All the things my surgeon requires good luck lisa

Yes Lisa i started taking multivits, hair vits, lots of extra protein....Your body needs a kick start to surgery so it can heal better so the better nourished you are pre op the better you will be post op! Other then the stupid stone and kidney crap i have been dealing with, which is not surgery related i have been doing and feeling great post op. Labs are great also! Good luck. LisaMarie

Lisa O Good one! I was thinking of asking the same question!! I think I might do it so I get used to taking them. I have a bad memory (really) and think i should get the habit before I have surgery and it could make me sick if I forget them too often ! What do you guys think? Plus where is every one getting them ? Who has the best / and prices? .........Kitty

YES KITTY! make this a habit now.... a friend on my surgery month board had traveled on business and was forgetting her vitamins......now its showing up in her blood work and has to take far more now to get it all back in the normal ranges. TAKEING our vitamins are very Important. FOR me i have a 7 day a week pill thing that i fill every week, this way i know if i miss it, of not sure....its always accurate cause we all get foggy minds! DO make it a habit and dont forget, i see what can happen from not takeing them! lisa

I started my liquid multi vitamins pre op, but I hated them post op so I ended up trying a few different ones till I found a chewable that I could deal with!

Hi Lisa, I had to stop taking the Viactive because the K in it helps to clot blood. I switched to a calcium supplement with just D. I was also advised to stop the multivitamin and Vitamin E for the same reason. I figured that 10 days before surgery, it would do me good to not take as much as I was taking at the time. Now, I'm back on everything. LindaM
