Someone suggested that Soy nuts are a great form of protein but what about sunflower seeds ? This may sound totally crazy but do you think they could "clog up" my new pouch ?

Hi Terri, I started using sunflower seeds in my yogurt and cottage chees at about 2 1/2 months out. I love them. In your case, you could grind them in a mortar & pestle or spice grinder. There is definitely more protein per tsp in soy nuts than in sunflower seeds and either way, if you chew them really well, they shouldn't clog anything. 1 oz of sunflower seeds (dry roasted) is 160 calories, 14 g fat, 7 g carbs 1 oz of soy nuts (dry roasted) is 130 calories, 6 g fat, 9 g carbs I visit www.calorieking.com to find out protein values in foods. Just type in the food and then change the amount value (you don't need to register). Hope that this helps. LindaM

I eat sunflower seeds all the time. I've had no problems at all. I've eaten the ones in the shells and I've eaten the ones that were not in the shells. Either way, whether I have to de-shell them or not. I've had absolutely no problems at all. Good luck! ~Angel 255/222/130 at Goal!

Thanks so much for the info- Just having something that is a little bit crunchy once in a while is a great thing and I am glad that no one has had any trouble... Can't wait to have some this afternoon as my snack !

Terri: Talk w/ your nutritionist for advise also, each program has different guidelines. Generally speaking nuts are ok, seeds also but let pouchie heal for at least a few months (2-3), introduce small amount, chew well, and only 1 new food at a time! I eat nuts often (*probably too often! LOL), sunflower or almonds on salad daily and they do have good benefits nutritionally! Watch calories nuts are loaded so a little goes a long way!
