Excellus BC/BS HMO Help

This is my second time trying to get approval. The first time I was denied because I didn't weight enough (3 lbs under). Then my Ins. Co. changed the benefits for weight loss services to "Medically Necessary". I have several Comorbidity's. Does anymone have this Insurance that can tell me the best way to proceed and what to do if I'm denied again. Nancy in Rome New York

I have Excellus.... I had no problem getting approval. Once they see the comorbidities you should get a quick approval, I had mine within 4 days. Just make sure they have all your letters from your primary, and anything else that is proof that you need this surgery. My surgeons office sent everything they needed. Hope you get this settled quick. Shannon

Hi Shannon.....I went to my PCP last week and she said she will send in a letter of my comorbidities. I have an apt. with my surgeon next week. I have had all tests done (except for lab work) the first time I saw the surgeon and was denied. Hope I don't have to have the tests again. All that time off from work doesn't help the pay check.
