Psych eval and stress test done!
hello friends........my psych eval yesterday went awesome. Dr. says to me "a football player that is 6' 350 lbs. of solid muscle would have a high BMI also, but he wouldn't have surgery for the obvious." So I said to him, but I'm not solid muscle, and I need surgery! He said "well you look like your an athletic build, that's all that meant." I though that comment was ignorant and I'm beginning to wonder if he knew what the hell he was talking about! As long as he sends a report and letter to my doctor, that's all I need! Strange.........
And my stress test, this was a 6 hour ordeal. I get their at 11:00 to be told that they just submitted to insurance for approval for test. I'm saying to myself "I don't even have an approval for WLS" yet, how the heck are they going to approve a stress test for pre-op, well after waiting 2 1/2 hours in waiting room, the call came in that they approved it. I'm hoping the I soon will get WLS approval. Didn't get home till about 6:30 last night from 8:30 in the a.m.
It's so aggravating to go for all these tests for a surgery that I really want and don't know if I'm going to have it!
Have any of you gone through pre-ops with out ins. approval?
Definately an experience?
Hugs to all,
Lisa

Lisa,
I did everything w/out a surgery approval. The surgeon would not give me a date until I did those tests. Annoying? Yes, but what can you do.
The stress test is the one where you run on the treadmill right? Oh my gosh I remember that one. I felt like the biggest fatty gasping for air, how embarrasing! I needed to take a nap after that one.
Anyway, nevermind what the shrink said. As long as he does what he needs to do, who cares what he says. You will come across even more annoying doctors with stupid comments as you go along(boy do I know). Just b/c they are doctors doesnt mean they are good caring human beings. Let me tell you about the doctor who told me maybe I should have "my mouth wired shut instead" or the comment of "being the surgeons girlfriend" I can go on. They can be annoying.
I am glad to hear everything is moving along though. You will get there! Take care.

Lisa,
I am with everyone else, I had to do all my testing before getting ANY approval for WLS.
That just stinks about both of those appts.. Sometimes you really have to wonder...
Well I sure hope the rest of your journey goes smoothly...
