My doc charges the same for both. I believe his fee is in the 14,000 range. Then of course, hospital on top of that.

Kenny, I can tell you this, that at my original orientation meeting, I was told that that RNY was 40K or more but it was definitely in the 40'sK and the lap band was 17K. But I agree with Jamie check out the EOB it out if you can. I also have Empire BC/BS,for hospitalization, and UHC covers the physician's visits, and they covered the anesthesia, so I am hoping there will not be much of an out of pocket for me. My husband might freak on me. He'll put me out to work. LOL Kristine

Wow Kenny,...a lot of money there. I don't know how much mine cost yet. I keep looking at the bits and pieces on the claims at UHC. But I second the thank goodness for UHC-lol. If there is an out of pocket for me, I don't know it yet. Kristine

Kenny, Yeah mine was like $40,000 - $50,000, don't remember the exact number and my out of pocket was $1000.00. I had GHI at the time and they were pretty good. I did have to pay the co pays for the 6 months weight loss program that I had to do which was $20.00 a month for the PCP and $27.00 a month for the Nutritionist. Debra P

i'm surprised a lapband cost so much. my rny was approx. $55,000. how much the actual cost was i don't know i kept receiving bills from doctor after doctor.then my doctor stopped taking my insurance and no one in his office told me. to make a long story short a $2000 out of pocket fee became a fee close to $7000. i complained and eventually the office wrote off the balance. donna open rny mar 18 2003
