Hey Vi,
I am not sure about the thyroid levels, but I wish you luck at the endocrinologist to help you figure out what's going on.
Most of my labs are either low or under range, so join the club. I am pretty much sickened by just looking at most foods just due to the fact of the stomach ache I know I will get if I eat it and I am scared to make myself sick. I don't have any hunger as well so I know the struggle. I know part of it is in my head and part of it is in my stomach.
My surgeon also recommended I see a nutritionist b/c he says I need to have a bigger variety in what I eat to strengthen my intestines and try to kick the stasis that happens in the butt. I can really care less about having a variety in my eating but I will do what I have to do. I just eat now to live. I drink 5 protein drinks a day just to keep my protein levels up.
I know for a fact that the protein drinks are the things that are keeping me alive. You really do not want to end up like me. I am having battles now w/malnourishment. I have had to go to the hospital has an outpatient four times to get electrolyte drips put in me b/c they were way too low causing my BP to drop and heart rate to rise. They were also considering putting a PICC line to give me artificial nourishment if my labs didnt start to stablize. What a sight that would be! Me walking around w/bags hanging out of me. I would choke mushy gushy foods down before that would happen(which I am) So far my weight and labs are coming back ok, so I dodged that bullet for now. But you dont want to end up like this, it is a nightmare to deal with.
Hi Amy!! It's so good to see you on here. I'm sorry I haven't written more, but I keep thinking of you and waiting for news.
As for the endo guy, I'm definitely going to see him ASAP, I was just hoping to get some feedback on whether or not this could be surgery related and I got lots of good information!
I'm sure everything will be fine though hon. This surgery has been so worth it for me!!
HUGS,
vI
Can't offer any advice I'm too new at this but I do notice a distinct difference between Lap Band patients and Gastric Bypass patients. At least from my point of view, Gastric Bypass patients quickly transform from obesity to dramitic physical improvements that are just mind blowing. I am 5 weeks out and although my appitite is curbed I do feel as if I need to use a certain amout of will power especially in the evenings when I get my snacking hunger, boy its tough! Down almost 40 lbs I am so far pleased with my results but I do envy the transformation of the Bypass folks! I hope you work out all of your issues and BEST OF LUCK TO YOU !
