Water intake is still not to good. I am picking up crystal lite lemonade and trying that today to help. I have no interest in the iced tea like i did pre op. Water is my biggest struggle right now. LisaMarie
Hi S H....i have tried the protien powder in my coffee before and the only one that i have found that does not clump is Jay Robbs powder. I put it in first then add a little splenda and sugar free coffeemate. I mix it really well and have no problems with it clumping at all. Hope that helps. I have it 2-3 times a day. LisaMarie
Here we go:

Pat:
Hi, wanted to ask more info about your vits/minerals, when do you take them? what are the amounts? Type of iron?
I ask because Iron being a picky little mineral is best taken alone w/ vitamin C for optimum absorbtion http://ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/iron.asp . *Calcium and Iron for instance compete for absorbtion and Calcium wins out! As bypassers we are at risk for anemia and getting our iron and iron stores up can be challenging! (some need iron shots or infusions as they can not seem to absorb any oral iron)And some forms are not as absorbable and are quite harsh on the pouch (Ferrous sulfate is the worst culprit* gentler forms are ferrous gluconate, ferrous fumarate, carbonyl iron and polysaccharide iron all avail OTC).
Here is a nifty little thing I picked up....
http://www.calabell.com/hn/Supp/Iron.htm#Supp-Forms
******************************
IRON RULZ 101:
·take alone empty stomach if u can
·Take with Vitamin C to aid absorbtion 250-500mg
·never with calcium (it may/will not be absorbed as calcium wins out!)
·never with any other vits (except C) *B12 is only exception
·never with any other meds..wait 1-2 hrs before taking other vits/supps
Never with:
·dairy *this means Not with protein shakes!
·fiber
·legumes
·eggs
·tea or coffee reg or decaf...they all hinder absorption (its the tannins)
IF you have to a dry saltine is best to buffer it!
**********************************
The calcium citrate is that 2 doses of 500mg or is it 2 tabs = 500mg elemental?
Do you take any B12? I worry when I do not see RNYers taking it, up to 70% rnyers can ddevelop this longterm...
http://www.thinnertimes.com/gastricbypass/b12_deficiency.html
This link speaks a little to the B12, Iron and Calium issues we can develop.
b12 is cheap (needed sublingaul not a pill) and no known toxic levels
http://ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/vitaminb12.asp
vs deficiency which can cause permanent and irreversible neurologic (brain damage).
Other things we may need are Zinc, Magnesium, extra A, D, E, thiamine (B1), folate, selenium, B6,
