Debra hey girl don't give up. I have had to do a few things by forcing my self. for one eatting was really hard for me i wasn't doing it enought after surgery. I thougth why eat when i am not hungery? but i was wrong. Doc told me to make a schedule on my watch or palm pilot and when it goes off to sit down and eat. I have done the same with my excersing i schedule my self. I get up early and do it right away in the morning so i don't have to worry about it the rest of the day. also He really stresses a focus which at first i thought yea RIGHT. but it really helps. find something that you carry around and whenever i need a little boost (like not wantin to go to gym) i take out the focus and it gets me right in the mood. (like mine is a pic of the wedding dress i am going to get remarried in. i told my DH when I reach goal he is going to remarry me) or make it a pic of a swimsuit you like or a vaction you want to take or ect. but something personal to you. good luck praying for ya Nikki in Oswego

Donna I can only speak to the Golds gym in my area. They just completed a major renovation and is absolutely gigantic! Golds Gyms are independantly owned so its up to the individual owners to keep up with their franchise. I do know that Golds members can visit any Golds Gym nation wide when traveling as part of their membership benefit. Hope that helps? Kenny

Wow Kenny... That sounds nice!!!!! We're downsizing the luxuries starting in June, getting rid of satellite and cell phone. So after that I am hoping to add something maybe a gym membership, besides a membership to the NY zoos(lots of walking there)I am SCREAMING to get more active on the inside and one of the reasons I am depressed is because I am tired of the cold weather. Is Gold's in Newburgh expensive? I haven't had a gym membership in years! We were going to join the YMCA because I know for a fact that hubby can get a discount in Middletown, but we are just procrastinators! Kristine

HI Deb, Please know that you are not alone...my favorite form of exercise is sleeping!!! I have a new stationary bike, which I was on for 15-20 minutes for about 2 months after surgery, but that's not happening now. I also have a manual treadmill but I don't like unfolding and folding it back up- now talk about a poor excuse for not exercising! I don't have an exercise buddy..I guess my best buddy this past winter has been my snow shovel It was the ONLY thing that got me outside and moving! I try to walk as much as possible during the day by parking far from the door (doesn't help, we have a small parking lot) and walking around the office building but then you get,' don't you have anything better to do?' I hate exercising, but know that I have to do it. I'm doing better energy wise with the iron but hate the cold so I won't walk outside until I feel comfortable. I would love to join gym but nothing is close by and I'm still very much concerned about what I will owe to the dr. for surgery. This alone could drive me back to stress eating!!! I know that this was not helpful at all, but I will watch and read what others suggest and perhaps we both can find some solution. Thank you for letting me share with you. LindaM

Linda, Mine would be more like sitting and watching HGTV shows or like. I only really watch cable on TV now and I am hooked because of us buying a house. Thanks for much for your words of support. Debra P

Hiya sweetie, A few things....you always tell folks on this web site that sometimes the body needs a break from losing. You have already lost so much...maybe as you get closer to goal, the weight loss won't be as significant as in the beginning. Also, maybe you should think about what kind of exercise you are doing...is it fun? Are you bored with it? I just joined a Jazzercise class and it's new and different and fun! It keeps me motivated. Do you listen to music? Is it time to buy yourself a new bunch of tunes? They say that several bouts of 10 minute exercise is just as effective as one 30-40 minute stretch at a time...little walks during the day? What's going to make you feel good? Really happy good? Do you need to make a change to the same ol' routine? Please do not beat yourself up, but rather look for what thrills you. If it's fun...do it! Sometimes I just pump good tunes and dance around my living room for 10 minutes. It's better than nothing, it's fun, and anyone who is timely enough to be looking in my living room window gets a great laugh. Remember, Hugs to you. You'll find your way out of this shlump. I have great faith in you! Amy

Amy, It is not so much the slowing down of my weight because that I can understand but it is the lack of commitment I am making to improve it by adding it exercise. But I guess these big change in habits come with time as I have lived most of my life so far with all the bad ones. thanks for your kind words hun Debra P

Hi Debra, No words of advice my friend, no pearls here. I'm too new at this and don't have any problems YET, but it's too easy for me to fall into that same trap and my words would only come back to haunt me in a few months - so let me just say - stick in there girl. Keep doing what you were doing at the beginning. Go back to some of the basics. I hate to exercise, but I've been going to curves. For me it was the perfect starting point for exercise, for forcing myself to get out and DO something, some movement and for me it is working. It won't for long, I know I'll be bored with it soon, but for now it works. When I don't get to curves I do the bike and treadmill, which I still hate, but I make myself do them all,the home stuff and the curves stuff because I didn't do this to fail yet again. I know none of that helps, but you are not alone, we are all out here to help however we can. You WILL get over this, things will work out with your house, the frustrations will get less and less and you will be back on schedule. I have faith in you girl. You WILL turn this around. HUGS - Robin
