getting out of the rut

I have been in such a rut. Sunday after church I went out to eat at Bob Evans. I didn't follow my diet and afterward I felt so awful. I have eaten this way for so long that starting a new way of eating can be pretty hard. Plus, I don't get much exercise. But today I have pushed myself a bit harder and eat better and get some exercise. WHen I went to see the physical therapist, she told me that I could march in place for 2 minutes and that would be as effective as going for a walk. So I did that 2 min. march twice today. I am gonna do that twice everyday. I wanna work up to going out for a walk when it gets a bit nicer out. I go back to surgeons office on March 10th. I will be weighed in and they will let me know if they decide to do the surgery for me. I'm a bit worried about it, but tryin to not think about it much. debby

Debby its sounds like you are getting in the grove. I know its hard when I first started my WLS path and they told me I had to lose 30before surgery i thought they were nuts. But I started walking the dog every mornig and stopped eatting anything after 7pm(drank lots of water and plain tea). in the end i lost 30+ and had my surgery 7days after my last Nutrution visit. So it goes fast and get your self a focus. My dr is really big on those and I got one. I have a picture of the wedding dress I am going to get remarried in for mine. Also start trying different shakes before surgery to find one that will be okay for ya after. good luck prayin for ya Nikki in NY

I go to Saranac Lake to the surgery center there. I went on Feb. 9th and had a bunch of evaluations. They aren't sure if they will do the surgery for me yet. They need to talk to a few people then decide. They did say that as long as I keep losing then they will work with me. So I am trying to keep motivated to change my eating and exercise habits. I think starting tomorrow I'm gonna go walk around the outside of my apt. building. hmm not sure what I could have as a focus. Will have to think about it. thanx for the prayers. debby

Debby: It is challenging to wait to find out if your approved for surgery or not. The mindset that will allow you success is the one that "I am up to this challenge" "Nothing will deter me from my goals" I realize for us that this is a different mindset than we are used to so it takes time to work on using it more frequently! NOT beating ourselves up for a slip is also important. This can be a stressful time, but THE BEST time to develop healthier coping skills than soothing ourself with food. Think about the LONGTERM goals (HEALTH), not the immediate gratification food gives (then takes away and replaces with guilt!). You're strong and no matter what you desire ...Beleive with all your body/mind/spirit that you will succeed and can acheive/deserve anything! THIS IS JUST A test YOU CAN PASS IT! I BELIEVE in you DEBBY! Now it is time for you to believe in DEBBY! Gentle hugs of support! Debby, Hun I am going through the same thing as you right now even though I am post op so I guess I would not be a good one to offer advice but know I understand and will be here for you as we all are here for you at any time you need us! I know this is so hard and when people say we took/taking the easy way out I just want to flip my lid .....Nothing easy about any of this that is for sure. ~Hugs~ That is good about the 2 min March and though I can do more physicaly I need to get myself into a route of SOMETHING to get myself into a habbit for exercise and I might just try that marching in place, thanks for sharing that hun ~hugs~ Well I hope all the best for you and we ALL together can work through this and have an awesome success story! hey there Debra, It is hard to put some exercise in our routine. I have been so used to the routine I've had for years. It is like a path in the forest. I have walked this path for so long that it is beaten down and a smooth walk. But now I wanna go a different path and stay off the old one. That means I gotta walk through a bunch of weeds and tree limbs to start beating down a new path. It is hard to stay away from the way I'm so use to going. Hope this made sense. This definately is not the easy way out. No one can know what we going through unless they been in our shoes. Thanks for the hugs Debra. *hugs back* I hope the 2 min march works for ya. It is helping me to get motivated to do more. take care, debby
