I found a wonderful support group in Poughkeepsie
Last night I attended a support group in Poughkeepsie run by Lea Thomson and it was wonderful!!! I could not believe how friendly and helpful everyone was you see I had been to another support group since I started my quest in Nov. 2005 and it was just the opposite. In my first support group the person who ran it was a bypass post-op and she thought she know everything so when anyone would say anything she would jump on them. Personally I did not find that to be supportive so I started to ask around about other groups well not only is Poughkeepsie so much closer to home they are warm and welcoming and SUPPORTIVE! You can only imagine how happy I am to find somewhere that makes me feel like I belong. I just had Lap-Band on Feb. 1st and I was thinking I am never going to be going to support group again but now I am sure I will be looking forward to it every month. I just want to say thank you to Lea and everyone in the group for making me so comfortable.
THAT IS SO GREAT,, I HAVE NOT FOUND A GOOD SUPPORT GROUP, AND I REALLY DO NEED ONE, I TRIED TO GO TO WEIGH****CHERS FOR SUPPORT, BUT IT'S JUST NOT THE SAME. I FEEL RELUCTANT TO LET THEM KNOW THAT I HAVE HAD SURGERY, SO IT'S A SECRET FOR NOW, AND I'M NOT COMFORTABLE WITH SECRETS. ANYWAY, I'M SO HAPPY FOR YOU, CONTINUE TO ENJOY YOUR GROUP,,,,,,GOD BLESS Jo H in NY
