Hi!
You look great and are doing wonderfully! Keep it up.
When I look at myself in the mirror I do not see myself that much different than how I looked a year ago, so are not alone. The mind just needs to catch up w/the body.
Take care.

Elizabeth,
Congratulations! Believe me you look great. Have you saved any of your old clothes? Put some of them on and see how big they are on you now. I do know that I still think of myself at 306 lbs even though I am now 203. I still feel the same except I have tons of energy, and get lots of compliments. I still see myself as fat. But I guess compared to where I was i am smaller.
keep up the good work.

We are all so blind when it comes to recognizing our own progress! I can see a fantastic change in your start pic and current pic. Good for you for coming to the boards and getting confirmation. You look wonderful. If you can't see it yet, focus on the changes you feel in your body and your lifestyle...
Keep up the good work.
Hugs,
Amy
tHANK YOU ALL. YOU HAVE MADE ME FEEL BETTER. I SEE THE DIFERENCE IN CLOTHES SIZE LIKE FROM 3X SHIRTS I AM NOW WEARING LARGE AND PANTS FROM 26 I AM DOWN TO 18. SO I SEE THE DIFFERENCE IN THE CLOTHES AND NUMBERS BUT WHEN I WAS LOOKING AT THE PICTURE I DON'T. BUT THANK YOU ALL FOR REASSURING ME I'M HEADING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION
Elizabeth:
Hello, congrats on your amazing journey and transformation. It is common for us to have a distorted body image. For one we tended to 'avoid' scales, mirrors, photos of ourselves when we were Morbidly Obese. So we learned to 'trick' our brain to don't look/don't tell. The brain being one slow organ takes time to notice change (in addition to not having a good frame of reference memory !). I recommend looking at self DAILY in the mirror preferably nude to see what we look like, face reality, force the brain to acknowledge it all. Then as you change the brain can see what it needs to have a accurate account of self/body image. Taking measurements and photos monthly as well as weights can help us to (knock some reality into our brains!) Patience is one thing that is needed in this journey. I am not sure how tall you are, but I started out very similar in stats to you, I was 5'9'' 320# preop...Today I am (still 5'9'' LOL) and 163-169. The changes are immense at 4.5 mo I was ~195# BUT I lost 45# preop so from day of surgery I had lost 80# your right on with what I was doing! (not to compare but...)
I have This is not brain surgery...but thereis a magic pill book by Dr. Teri Holtzclaw in PDF file form if your interested very good read! email me offlist: [email protected] Also a workbook on body image may help, there are so many out there. search on amazon.com or go to

You look beautiful (pre and post op) OF COURSE the difference is noticable to us and not to you, that is common! I have all the confidence that that will change with time too as your progress on this journey and discover your true authentic self one not hidden by your excess wt!
HUGS!
Take Care,
Jamie
