God, LisaMarie, it's awful to have to put a pet down. I have done this a couple of times myself and it is one of the most heartbreaking things to get though. It sounds like Hercules had a wonderful life with lots of love and you guys are sensitive to the quality of his life being diminished. He's a lucky dog. My hearfelt sympathies, Amy

I'm so sorry for you and your family, we had to put a cat down last month and my husband still tends to tear up when her name comes up. I wish you and Hercules peace. xosm

Hi LisaMarie, My heart goes out to you--I know how hard it is to lose a companion like Hercules--I lost my beautiful Misty and Patches within a year of each other --they were 17 and 14 years old respectively. It is really like losing a family member. I did find two wonderful kitties to join my household --but I will always miss the ones that I lost. Whether you lose a dog or a cat--they are so dear to us. And we mourn them just like we would any family member. I hope that you are lucky enough to find a friend to fill the void that is in your heart (I found mine at North shore animal league and at petfinder.com) . LisaMarie: Will kep you ad your baby in my thoughts/prayers. There are no words to express the depth of love and loss we feel for our furbabies. Being a mother to 5 'kiddies' and having to lose many over the years it is never easy. Focus if you can on all you gave to Hercules, all the love, happiness and joy you shared. You will always have those memories close to your heart. The act of letting our children move on to a place w/o pain or suffering is one of the most unselfish gifts we can give our furbabies. We cannot exactly understand what your feeling but want to let you know we are here. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
