LisaMarie: We are all entitled to a bad day here and there! We are human! I keep the motto: "Progress NOT Perfection" in my head...it is what we do "90% of the time that matters! I beleive!". Now hunger returning is common, for me it hit at 7 months postop w/ a VENGENCE! I beleive it is at a time that the pouch matures/heals, the swelling goes downa nd we discover we can eat a greater quantity/variety of foods. FOR ME I know carbs make me hungry (the simple ones such as bread, potatoes, milk (liquid sugar at 13g carbs a cup, the body does not know the difference in natural suga!), crackers, pretzels, popcorn I suppose although I haven't tried it postop... or a lot of 'fake foods' such as protein bars etc. I find if I live 90% of the time by south beach philophies, I control much of my hunger. Meaning I eat PROTEIN lean/dense FIRST at meals, tehn follow with low GI veggies or fruits like apple w/ skin, berries...(NO bananas too high in GI for instance). I use the whey protein shakes 2 most days to curb hunger, it has been proven in many stideis.. SO I decided to work with my bodies chemistry. See the honeymoon leads many to beleive they will always be full on small amounts, it just isnt so for most. THOSE 12 pretzels can turn into bags! THat 1c popcorn, bags, teh 4 crackers w/ peanut butter are now a sleeve of ritz....Those things are absorbed w/ saliva in the mouth! Protein/fats satisfy, keep the BS more stable, lessen cravings. Just FYI. I see so many post their food daily and it amazes me what the choices are, I know all too well the raod they are on may be a slippery slope (Running a offtrack group with thousands in the same boat thinking when people mentioned to them as newbies that things like drinking milk daily, Carnation Instant Breakfast, crackers, pretzels, bread, bagels, chips, popcorn, potatoes, drinking soups that are ladden in carbs like tomato soup etc, protein bars w/ still carbs and sugar alcohols, etc could be a slippery slope to malnutrition bad habits and hunger, insufficent wt loss, regain they thought NOT ME I AM DIFFERENT! Well I do not want to say I TOLD YOU SO TO ANYONE! I DO NOT want to see newbies on offtrack in a yr, but I know I will.... I want people to use the valuable tool they have choosen to relarn to live as helahtfully as possible, you get ONE honeymoon, ONE opportunity when it is easiest to retrain yourself to eat/live intentionally/responsibly I think. One day won't mess it all up, I have bad day, HECK I can eat a whole Mcds Sausage egg and cheese biscuit..YUP I tested and found it out! 550 calories, so DO I EAT THEM!? I try not to most of the time....But we are human and have imperfections. I can eat one slice of pizza, two if I wait 15 min in between...People say why would you do this? Well cause I want to! LOL..No really grazing is one sure way to taking in too many calories, grazing on carbs is a sure way to increas hunger...So making the choice to use the tool is not easy but it is possible. SHOOT FRO 90% of the time ok! BE GENTLE, LOVING, KIND to self! The emotional attachment with food is the hard work I agree but the challenge I am up to and I knw LisaMarie you are too! Support is crucial I think to success! Posting here is the first step to changes. OK protein first ok! your mantra for life! BE well!
