Painted Post, NY

Hi there, just wondered if anyone was from Corning/Painted Post area of New York. Hubby just accepted a job there and he will be moving in a couple of weeks with the kids and I following at the end of the school year. Just hoping to find some WLS friends in that area. Thanks, Michelle

Michelle; Welcome to New York. You will be moving to one of the nicest areas in New York. You will not be far from Seneca Lake, and Kueka Lake. There you will fine some of the finest wines in the US, and the Finger Lakes are just beautiful. I am from Niagara Falls about 3 hours away, but I have friends in Corning (one works in a local bank) and we visit often. Good luck. Karen

Michelle I live in Bath, which is about 20 minutes from Corning and Painted Post. Where is your husband going to be working? My husband is job hunting and has applied for a few jobs in the Corning area and had 3 or 4 job interviews. I used to work at Corning Museum of Glass in Corning. Welcome!!

Thanks for the Welcome, Hubby will be working for Corning at the Erwin plant. He worked for Corning for 10 years at a plant down here until they sold the Pyrex division so this job gets him back in to the company at about the same point he left benefit wise. Im nervous to move. He will go without the kids and I for a few months until school is out. I have a great job here that will be hard to leave so Im hoping to find something up there before I move. My husband just graduated from college in December and has applied for, and been interview for a number of jobs at Corning. He has a degree in Electrical Mechanical Engineering. I'm hoping that he gets a job there- maybe they'll run into each other!! What ages are your children? I have an 8 (almost 9) year old, 6 year old and a 8 month old. Good Luck. Marty

Hi Michelle I am from Horseheads which is about 15 minutes from Painted Post. There are support meetings in this area. One is in Corning and the other is in Elmira. Email me anytime. Andrea
