OC - Need Support Group

I just received approval for my surgery. I am seeking a support group in my area. I think that there is one in Poughkeepsie (St. Francis), however, I lost the information that some nice lady sent me. Please let me know of any groups in Orange COunty (dates, times, location, etc.). Thank you. Debbie

Hi Debbie! I've gone to that group! The next meeting is Feb. 15th at 7pm in the atrium of St. Francis (conf. room D). Let me know if you need any more information. I have the schedule for the next few months and they are only meeting once a month for now. Vi Congrats on getting approval! Dr. Yatco is great! I love that whole team!

Vy, Thank you. I am very excited and of course nervous at the same time. I look forward to meeting other people and chatting about their experiences. I am familiar with St. Francis Hospital since I had back surgery there. Is the conference room easy to find ( ex. is it in the main hospital?). Thank you for the response. Any advice you can give me for surgery day would be great. Debbie

Hi Debbie, the conference room is very easy to find. All you do is walk into the atrium (the main entrance) from the garage and go past the front desk -- right behind them is a staircase that you take to go down one flight. I'm sure you can get there in the elevator too, I'm just used to taking the stairs. Anyway, from the stairs, you take a right at the first hallway and walk to the end of the hall to conf room D. They usually have a sign by the front desk telling you that the support group is meeting downstairs. As for advice for surgery, bring chapstick, your favorite pillow and loose clothing to go home in! Don't stock up on anything, your tastes will change. Just get a few items (you won't be eating that much at first anyway) like jello and broth (I hate both now ) and of course a protein powder that you like for your shakes.
