Got my Letter

I am so Happy now. My last post i said that i talk to Blue cross and they said that i was Approved but i still didn't get a letter so i wasen't to happy and was over thinking things well today i got my letter in the mail that says i'm in I go into the office on Tuesday and i'm hopping that i get a date before the end of next week. How long did everyone wait from the time they got approved till the time they got a date. i know i'm going to have to wait a while because my Doc only does 2 WLS a week and only on Wedsdays. He's very picky on who takes on because he's the head of surgey at Unv. Hospital so i feel like i'm in good hand . HEAR WE GO ROUND 2....

~C*O*N*G*R*A*T*S~ I had to wait about 4-6 weeks for a surgery date (but my surgeon is almost exclusive wls doing 4-6 a week.....Probably depends on cases he has etc or if any vacations scheduled. Whevere you have it it wont be soon enuff if u were like me! I wish you the best! Jamie

AWESOME! It feels so good to see it on paper! My date was scheduled prior to getting the final approval. Then the paperwork came So I guess mine was a little backwords. Wishing you the safest crossing to the losing side. Mary

Hi Dwight;We are neighbors and I just had my surgery at University hosp on Monday with Dr,Howard Simon.He is awesome also.I was discharged on Wednesday.When I got my approval for surgery, it was approximately 6 weeks later that I had the surgery.The bariatric center will work with you on this.I am very happy for you.I live on Onondaga Hill by Community hosp.You are right down the hill from me.Good luck and keep me posted.Patsy

Hi Dwight, That is wonderful news ! I am so happy for you ! I got my date before the submitting to the insurance co. so I guess it is a little backwards. I still have to wait about a month before they actually submitt it to the ins. co . for approval ! Sounds like you picked a great surgeon ! Just try and be patient your day will be here really soon ! Dwight, Congratulations! dates are so dependent on doctors' schedules and hospital OR schedules. I got my date within 4 days and the date was 4 weeks away from the insurance letter so I had to scramble putting in for time off, making arrangements for a hotel, transportation, etc. (I had it done out of town). However long you have to wait for a date it's all worth the wait. In the meantime you can be stocking up on some hospital essentials and things to drink and puree for your first few days/weeks at home. Gas-X, chicken broth, sugar free things (jello, Crystal Light, etc.) Best wishes for a speedy date and a faster recovery!! Keep us informed as to your progress. LindaM
