I decided to call hospital and it is $39 a day for private. Not too bad. Not free, but not bad. It is worth it I think. I was just remembering in '98 when I had to share a small room after my c-section and I was trying to learn how to breastfeed my first child. She had tons of company and they had to walk by my bed to get to hers. She had 10 people in that little room at one time and I was trying to get a newborn to "latch on". I can laugh about it now, but not at the time! Thanks everyone, Regina

hi good luck to you. dont ask for a private room, most insurance's dont pay for one. but most likely they will give you one. if you get billed for it tell the hospital i didnt ask for this and they will rebill it. best to you. im 58lbs down.

Hi, Yep! I was In a private room too--and was given a special Bariatric Bed! There wasn't much privacy--they check on you every fifteen minutes or so! I was okay though! Be Blessed, Marian S.C.

Regina I just had Surgery in Rochester Nov 16th 2005. I had a private room. Its so nice one bathroom and all. they do have rooms you can share with another person. Its on the form if you want a private room it cost extra at Strong but my insurance covered it. The staff up there is so wonderful I was very happy they way they respond to any needs or questions you have. Who is your Dr gonna be? I had Dr Thad Boss. best of luck Nikki in NY

Hi Nikki, Thanks for info. I have Dr. O'Malley. I hear they are both great. I met dr. O at the required seminar and he was great. He was losing his voice but stayed as long as anyone had a question, and I asked a lot of them. Can't wait to have surgery! My psych, nutrition and ultrasound of my bladder are all on Feb 3. Thanks so much for the info everyone!! Regina

Im new to the board and somewhat more of a looker than a poster. I was wondering, if you are in Oswego, why did you travel to Rochester for the surgery. I was born and raised in Holley/Henrietta/Avon, and recently relocated to Baldwinsville. I was wondering if I should go back to Strong or Park Ridge since I've been to both. Was just curious. Thanks.

Molly I stated my process when I was living in Auburn NY then we got relocated to Oswego NY with my hubands job. I had my surgery in Rochester because I have a really bad heart and Dr Boss was the one my Heart Dr and Reg Dr refered me to that would do the process because of my heart. I am one of the affects of epherdine. I was put on it after my son to lose the weight I put on and now as a result I have a bad heart (which was the main factor of me having WLS) Also there is no Dr in Auburn that does WLS that I am aware of. So that is why I went to Strong Memorial in Rochester. I am very happy with Dr Boss and my surgery was done with out problems. Nikki in NY
