Can anyone give me a little guidance. I have done every test the surgeon requested, attended support group meetings, visits with nurtitionist, MSW social worker, and psychiatrist. All have said I am a good candidate for the surgery. Last result went to surgeons office 10 days ago. I believe all that is left is for the office to send off my paperwork to the insurance compmany. I have only contacted the office about 3 times in the last 5 months. I know I will have to call this week and see if they can give me an approximate date they will have this paperwork prepared. I have friends that are waiting for a date so they can put in for time off to get me to the hospital and home. My work is waiting for a date so they can cover my job while I am off and everythings on hold. Work has been very patient, I keep telling them as soon as I have a date they will be the first to know. Thanks, Tara

Tara I know i thought i would never have my surgery. I did all the appts and meeting with nurtitionist, and psychiatrist, and was okayed by Insurance to have it and wasn't hearing from the my Dr and wasn't hearing then when I went to my monthly visit with him he goes okay you are having surgery in 7days Good luck and see ya then. after that it went by fast. I was a little shocked. I had my surgery Nov 16th 2005 and am feeling great and very happy I did it. Really love trying on clothes now and saying NOPE too BIG and try on something else or head to store to get a little something. But not buying much am saving up for a big Shopping spree once I hit my goal. Nikki in NY

Yeah my Gf had WLS done 5 years ago and i'm going thru the Hoops now and the one thing she told me is that you have to call the Doc's Office all the time she thinks everyday but Once a week is good. My Doc's Office is really good, they put my packet together as we went along with all the Bull **** test after test so once i got the last thing done that sent my packet off the next day, I'm hoping to hear something within the next week for me but u have to ride them like hell. Remember that they work for YOU

Tara: I would call the office Monday asking to speak with who coordinates the insurance precerts, get there name, document when you spoke w/ thenm (for your records) ask what to expect from here forward typically in this stage of the process. (Ask when your ppwk was/will be submitted to the insurance) Then I'd say follow up with them weekly after as well with the insurance company (to see if submitted/received/progress etc). Keeping track of who/when you called etc! Be a proactive part in your healthcare! I know we shouldn't have to do this but reality is we dohave to! I had surgery 3 yrs ago it took 1 week for MVP to approve once ihad a complete application. I know it seems like a lot of tests at times BUT it is for our health and safety to be as low risk as possible! It is a challenging process I know but one so so worth the effort! (or hoops as some feel they are!) HUGS!
