Does anyone that has had WLS have Blue Cross Excellus as your Insr. Co.? I had to switch to them because Health Now no longer covers Wal-Mart in Ny with sucks because i'v been dealing with them for the last 6 months and now that i have everything to send out they tell us in Oct that We now longer have health now as a choice. Blue Cross is better and i'm paying more for it but it's what i needed. How long did it take you to hear something from them? My paper work was jus send out on thursday when should i start calling them? Looking around it seem like some people were approved in 1-4 weeks i want to know is that the Norm. or i'm i going to have to wait for 6 moths. I'v been freaking out alot, with work, home, tryin to plan a wedding ( that's if i can get WLS so i can fitt in a plane seat) and not knowing were all this is going to go I hope someone can give me some hope i really need it. On a good note i went thru X-mas and Thanksgiving and lost 5 pounds (and i ate everything in sight see this might be my last "Normal Holiday")

Hi Dwight, There's a section of this web site devoted to people's experience with getting approval from their insurance. Here's the link to the info on insurances that start with the letter 'B'...just scroll down a bit and you'll see a post about BC Excellus.. http://obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/members/list-insurers.php?State=NY&alphaPos=B Good luck to you!! Hi Dwight, I had Blue Cross Excellus and did not have a problem with them at all and as a matter of fact they sent my paper work in and the next day they heard and I was approved for the surgery but can't have it now because the company I work for decided to change the insurance as of Jan. 1 and I am not in network now and I have Blue Cross and Blue Sheild Community Blue HMO and it stinks. I was going to have my surgery the first week on Jan and now have to wait 6 months. But you should not have a problem they were really good for me and fast. Good Luck to you. Judy

I had that insurance at the time of my surgery and as of 2 years post op I had only paid like 57.00 out of pocket for my surgery. Approval was last minute, but other than that I wish I still had that insurance Betty Jo Lap RNY 7/11/03 399.5/210/150 over 238 inches gone
