Hi John, My surgeon is Dr. Michael Leitman. He has offices in Manhattan and Lake Success. He does the surgery at Beth Israel and he is the Vice-Chairman of the surgery department. I had my surgery 18 months ago and I am very happy with the results. Sorry, I haven't heard of Dr. Rosser or Dr. Gellman. My husband's cousin had her surgery 3 years ago and used Dr. Gadaleta. Jackie

I won't repeat what a patient said about Dr Gellman. It wasn't good. But I have had surgery with Dr Shawn Garber, who was trained in the lap RNY procedure, by Dr Wingate. Wingate is the originating surgeon on the procedure and did Carnie Wilson's surgery. Dr Garber & his associate Spencer Holover are wonderful.Dr Holover taught surgeons how to be surgeons at Penn State ( I think)..They are very personable, sincere and have a very thorough approach to the surgery. You can visit their website at www.stopobesityforlife.com . You will find patient profiles there- before/after pictures. That is how I began researching the doctor- I began contacting his patients and asking questions..and what I totally recommend is beginning to attend support groups run by the surgeon..you will need them post surgery and its good to get first hand what is being asked and what is being discussed. Support groups are for preops (researching) and postops going through their journey. Its the best way to find out first hand. If you are located in Suffolk County- there is a support group I also attend at Good Sam and many patients belong to Dr Adaniel, who does surgery at South Shore. If you want more information on that group- message me and I will send it.. Good luck Donna

My surgeon was Dr. Gellman. He is great. He answers all questions, takes his time with you. I have seen him for every follow up visit. I would highly recommend him. Best wishes~ Laurie

Hi John, I am personally going to convert to Judaism for Dr. Gellman. J/K. Please read my post I just did called "update on me". Dr. Gellman is one of the very few surgeons out there who truly do care, give it their all and know what they are doing all at the same time. Gellman and Gadaleta are partners who work together all the time. They are ying and yang. Both are great surgeons and good guys. I can give you a million and one names of their patients(many on here) who they have done and they are doing great. So please do not take my case to make assumptions about Dr. Gellman. Do understand what has happened to me has nothing to do with Dr. Gellman being some sort of horrible surgeon. It actually shows his level of compassion/patience he has. He is a great surgeon w/lots of experience. With him, it is word of mouth. He just doesnt want to go on TV, built silly websites to attract business with before and after pictures like this surgery is some sort of cosmetic surgery. He certainly doesnt walk around talking about how wonderful he is(which he is by the way). Like I said in my post Dr. Gellman is humble, caring, and a great doctor. I know him very well so email me if you have any questions. I have also heard that Dr. Cooperstone is a very good surgeon, experienced, nice and compassionate man. The word from the WLS professionals in nassau county is cooperstone or gadaleta/gellman. Lord knows I have been in the loop far too long. I would suggest going to a few consultations and seeing for yourself. Once you have talk to a few of them, you will get the sense of the ones who are trying to sell you a "car" and the ones who actually do want to help you. Good luck with your journey! i used dr rubenstein in patchogue. what can i say..... he is fabulous. he and his whole staff are great. i can't say enough about them. he has a aftercare program whi*****lude a nutristionist and monthly support meetings. i've lost half of my body weight. i started weighing 282 pounds- a size 26, and now weigh 140 - and am a size 6. never dreamed i would be this size. i should add i'm 3 years post- op. only down side(s) are... he only does surgery out of central suffolk hospital in riverhead, and he pretty much doesn't accept most insurance plans. i actually traveled back and forth from huntington to patchogue or riverhead to see him. i was lucky i found him before he stop accepting insurance. he makes an exception for me when i see him, he will accept my insurance, and he write off what isn't covered. he is truly a caring/ kind man. good luck with your journey. donna open rny mar 18 2003 282/140/135
