Hey all! I started my Pro-op diet yesterday & I can't seem to get down my protein drinks....i'm taking Slimfast Optima & i get nauseous trying to drink them. Anyone have the same problem??? I don't mind just the liquids, but the shakes are horrible & make me gag with every sip! The taste isn't that bad but i don't know why i feel sick when i drink them. My Surgery is scheduled for 02/06 !!!! I can't wait! Any suggestions???

Try a different shake. I hate a lot of them, but I love the Elite Whey Chocolate Mint. I never cared for any of the slimfast stuff (except their bars which have too much sugar so I can't eat then now anyway). Definitely find a shake you like though because you will really need it after surgery!! Get some samples so you don't waste your money! Or buy small containers.

Melisa, yes I would try different ones until you find one that you like, I changed mine off with about 4 so I did not get sick of just one. I really like the zero carb Isopure Choc, you can pick that up at GNC. Also try the sample packets at bariatriceating.com. Take care Debra P

Lisa, I started the pre op diet my doc wants. Low carb slimfast 3 x per day and then just liquids the rest of the day. I am on day three and I find if I drink the slimfast cold and follow with water or coffee after every sip it goes down easier! Good luck. My dietician suggested I freeze the slimfast or warm it in the microwave. just a suggestion. hugs and well wishes! Chris 11 more days and a wake up!

Hi Melisa Purchase a whey protein powder with STEVIA as one of the ingredients. STEVIA is an herbal sweetener and is all natural. My nutritionist/dietician recommended this as it tastes much better than the other protein drinks. I have mixed it with milk, added it to smoothies, and my sugar free Carnation Instant breakfast. I also do not tolerate the regular protein shakes, but the STEVIA makes a difference. STEVIA can also be purchased at a health food store and you can add it to your shakes. Hope this helps!!! Congratulations on your decision to get healthy. May you surgery be uneventful and your recovery speedy. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. {{{{{HUGS}}}}} Brenda
