Hi Lisa, Dr. Garber was my surgeon and he is excellent. I've only had one follow up appointment so far and saw the PA, Donna Franco, however, the NY Bariatric Group works as a team and if there is anything that ever would go wrong, Dr. Garber would be right there. He also answers my emails when I have questions. His partner, Dr. Holover is very nice and also an excellent surgeon. He worked with Dr. Garber for my surgery but this is not always the case. Either way, you can't go wrong with the NY Bariatric Group. Everyone is nice, professional, and will work with you all the way. This includes the nutritionist and the psychologist. The team approach gets everyone involved. Do more research because that's the best way to learn as much as possible about the procedures available...I researched for about a year and kept coming back to the NYBG. I even traveled from upstate to LI for surgery with the NYBG. There are more on the messageboards who have Dr. G as their surgeon as well. I can't remember anyone being anything but pleased with their results. Final word from me...he has many procedures under his belt and that says experience! Linda 230/185/115

Hi Lisa! Dr. Garber was my surgeon and there's not enough I can say about him! He was WONDERFUL and I have seen him quite a few times since my surgery. He runs the support groups each month and answers all of my silly e-mails. He is so nice & thorough and willing to answer any questions you may have. I felt so very comfortable putting my life in his hands and he has certainly changed my life for the better. I would ABSOLUTELY recommend using Dr. Garber.....he's great! Erin

HI LISA! I would definitely look into more then one surgeon to choose from and another fine LONG ISLAND surgeon is Dr. AHMAD. I think you need to make a very careful choice on the surgeon that meets ur needs and wants. SO please i would go to the information seminar of another surgeon to compare. JUST a sugestion i know i met and spoke to more then one surgeon but that was me. LISA 310/185/???

Lisa, Dr Garber is an extremely experienced surgeon, he is always there via email if you have any questions and he usually gets back to you within 24 hrs, something that many surgeons don't do! His associates are great as well, the office is a slight bit lacking at times (call backs, relating info ect.) but I think that is because they are extremely busy!!They are all nice and know what they are doing (Ins approvals and such)! From what I hear if there is a problem with Ins Approval they will really fight for you!! Also I noticed that they (including Dr Garber) really know what each Ins requires, nothing is left to guess work! That is very important because there are some Dr's that have no idea and you just spin your wheels trying to get your Ins Approved. Like Lisa said Dr Ahmad is a great surgeon as well, I see many have him on the board and I know because my cuz had him as her surgeon. He goes over and above on things that matter (caring, compassion ect.). Please take your time and learn all you can about who ever you chose to go with. This is one of the most important things you will need to do. I wish you all the best hun and if you want you can email me anytime to ask questions ~hugs~ Debra P

Hi Lisa I live in Lake Grove and used Dr. Adaniel in West Islip. Several of us here on the boards have also used him and NO ONE has ever had anything negative to say about him! He has wonderful bedside manner, lots of TLC, and he is ALWAYS there for you if you need him. I had my surgery at Southside and had no complaints whatsoever. I know that if you were to check him out you too would be very impressed and there is also a support group run out of Southside the first Monday of every month. Feel free to ask me any questions! Good Luck! Marianne

Hi Lisa,, I also had Dr. Adaniel for my surgeon. He is wonderful. I had my surgery done at Good Sam in West Islip, which is right down the block from Dr. Adaniel. Every other saturday morning there is a support group held at Good Sam. I also saw Dr. Ahmad for 10 months. He was just wonderful. When he switched from Stonybrook to Mather he no longer accepted my insurance so I switched to Dr. Adaniel. Both are wonderful surgeons. Another great one is Dr. Braithwaite he is at ST.Catherine's in Smithtown. He use to be partners w/ Dr.Ahmad. I know a few people who have had their surgeries performed by him. So you have many good choices. Check them all out and make an informed decision. Good luck whichever one you choose. God Bless~ ~Angel 255/222/130 at Goal!

Hi Mariane, Do you attend the support group at Good Sam Hospital? its every 2 weeks. Many of Dr Adaniel's patients are there, as well as myself and others and it is open for RNY and Lap Band patients. Dr Adaniel was at our Xmas Party brunch and I spoke with him- very nice man. Are you going to his party next week at the Knights of Columbus? I was invited and will be going- hope to see you there Donna
