Help please - strange pain - long
Hi folks. I need some serious help. I have had a very strange pain in my belly area. I don't know what is causing it. I have been cutting back on everything trying to figure out what's causing the pain. It basically feels like my insides are being twisted, then released, then twisted again, over and over all day Saturday, it was pretty crippling. So I did nothing all day, then yesterday I felt better, but not 100% and then I'm doing pretty good today. Here's what happened since Friday.
For breakfast I had plain oatmeal. I had tuna salad (from home made with light mayo) for lunch. In the afternoon I had a small amount of peanuts, chewed to death - sort of like peanut butter! I drank about 60 ounces of water. At 4 pm, I started at Curves. Did the circuit twice, not the 3 times as they suggest. Figured the first time I shouldn't over do it, since I do almost NO exercise usually. That went fine and I felt fine. I had some fish I made (just lemon juice and pepper) and a spoonful of corn for dinner and sipped another 20 ounces or so of water over the rest of the night.
Saturday morning I woke up feeling fine. No pain. I made breakfast for the family - scrambled eggs with mushrooms and cheese. I had a plain scrambled egg, using one of those nonstick pans and a spray. This is my standard Saturday breakfast. I had a small cup of coffee with a little bit of milk. Still feeling okay. Then about 11:00 am I had a handful of peanuts. I chewed them to death. Around noon I started to feel like I needed to throw up. I tried, but never did, but started feeling this knot in my belly instead of just nauseaus. I have never been so uncomfortable and it seemed to come in waves. The only time I was relatively comfortable was sitting up, doing absolutely nothing.
By night time the pain had subsided, but had not gone away and on Sunday morning it was just a dull pain, but it stayed with me all day. Athough I have been very careful about what I have been eating, I have continued to take my vitamins and drink all of my water.
Today, Monday, I have felt fine, but very worried about what this might have been. If it was just something stupid - like I shouldn't have eaten those nuts, or I did something weird at Curves, I can deal with that and correct it, but if it is something any of you have experienced or know what it might be, I would love to hear about it and what you think it might be and what I should do about it.
Thanks for taking the time to help!

Nuts, corn are all tought to digest and may irritate pouch, fish too sometimes doesnt sit well, and eggs are one of the toughest proteins to digest. Many recommend back to liquids for a day then soft foods once pouchie is irritated..
BUT I am concnerned this COULD be more than irritated pouch..Bowel obstructions (partial) can act funny...SO PLEASE CALL SURGEON THIS AM to discuss w/ him!

Hi Jamie - yes, I realized after the fact that the nuts and corn were probably the problem. On Sunday I went back to my trusty supply of baby food and stuck with that Sunday and Monday and I'm feeling completely better. I'm calling the doctor as soon as the office opens just to be sure, but I think whatever it was has passed.
What a difference a day (or two) makes!

Hi Debra,
I'm pretty sure it was the nuts. I think I got a little carried away and ate them too soon and my system was not ready for them. No more nuts for me - at least not yet! I'm going to call the doc this morning, but the bad feeling has passed and I think I'm ok. I'll keep you posted! And I agree that I think the pouch gets a little grouchy sometimes! And I guess that's a good thing, because it keeps us honest and keeps us in our place! Reminding us that we have just had surgery and we need to be more careful!
